The history and composition of the Lyapis Trubetskoy group

In 1989, the Three Colors event took place in Minsk, in which the Lyapis Trubetskoy group also took part. But at the moment of 1989, Sergei Mikhalok, Dmitry Sviridovich, Ruslan Vladyko and Alexei Lyubavin already positioned themselves as a musical group. However, the name of the Lyapis Trubetskoy group has not yet appeared at the Three Colors event.

Sergei Mikhalyuk is a permanent soloist and leader of the Belarusian musical group. A young man at a young age wrote texts and musical compositions. Fate brought Sergei with no less talented people. Thanks to the guitarist, bass player and drummer, he brought his own compositions in the punk rock genre to the stage.

Young people who performed on the big stage in Minsk did not fully rehearse their act. However, due to the fact that each of the soloists had talent and lived in music, they were noticed. And they found the first "fans".

In 1994, fortune smiled on the musicians. The soloists of the Belarusian group met Yevgeny Kolmykov, who later became the general director of the group. Experienced Eugene competently "promoted" the Lyapis Trubetskoy group. The soloists of the musical group began to receive the first serious fees for their performances. A little later, the group went on a concert tour with the program "Space Conquest".

Then the group was expected to perform concerts on the same stage with the stars of Russian rock - the Chaif and Chufella Marzufella bands. The soloists of the group dreamed of recording a full-fledged album.

The group gradually began to gain even more fans. Moreover, the popularity of the musical group has long gone beyond the borders of Belarus.

The group's songs were sung along at rock festivals, the press was interested in the musicians, their clips were broadcast on almost all local television channels.

Unexpected effect

The excitement around the rock group led to the fact that the Lyapis Trubetskoy group began to have tough opponents. They believed that the lyrics and songs of the group were very provocative and could disturb the peace in the country.

Despite this, the soloists of the group appeared on the big stage to pick up several awards at once - "Best Group of the Year", "Album of the Year" and "Best Author of the Year" (there were four nominations in total).

Now "Lyapis Trubetskoy" was associated by many as the best rock band in Belarus. The soloists of the musical group literally “dived into the ocean of popularity”. But along with the popularity, the leader of the group fell into depression.

Sergei Mikhalok was in a creative crisis. For more than one year, the musical group did not appear on the big stage and did not please fans with new musical compositions.

In 1997, the musicians released the first video clip "Au", which contains photos of the participants and animation from plasticine.

The clip was very popular with the audience. And in 1998, the Lyapis Trubetskoy group organized a concert tour.

Some time later, thanks to the recording studio "Soyuz", an album was released with recordings from the archive of the group "Lyubov Kapets: Archival Recordings".

The track "Green-Eyed Taxi" became a scandalous composition. In 1999, Kvasha gave the guys a real rout.

In 1998, the group presented another album, Beauty. Critics and fans warmly received musical compositions. But they could not decide either on the mood of this disc or on the genre. In general, the tracks turned out to be perky and without "abstruseness".

Most of the songs were not allowed to air on radio stations due to censorship. But this did not stop the loyal fans. From a commercial point of view, the album "Heavy" was very successful.

A year later, the album "Youth" was released. In 2005, the soloists of the group recorded several soundtracks for films. The guys managed to accumulate a lot of material during this period of time. Therefore, in 2006 they presented a new album, Men Don't Cry.

Later, the leader of the group renamed the album to "Capital", stating that this was the first record written in the style of socio-political satire.

Then the Lyapis Trubetskoy group ended up on the “black list” of Lukashenka and the media for incorrect statements about the President of Belarus. Sergei was threatened with criminal punishment, but the case never came to prison.

Until 2014, the band released several more albums: "Rabkor" (2012) and "Matryoshka" (2014). And in the spring, Sergei Mikhalok made an official statement that the musical group had ceased creative activity.
