Beggin' you - this uncomplicated tune in 2007 was not sung except by an absolutely deaf person or a hermit who does not watch TV or listen to the radio. The hit of the Swedish duo Madcon literally "blew up" all the charts, instantly reaching the maximum heights.
It would seem a banal cover version of a 40-year-old The Four Sasons track. But thanks to the fresh arrangement, insane charm, artistry and charisma, the musicians gained long-awaited success, along with universal love and popularity.
Three years after the appearance of this hit, the film "Step Up 3D" was made. In it, the song became one of the main soundtracks.
How did it all begin?
The Madcon team consists of two black guys - German-born Tshave Bakvu, who has the creative pseudonym Kapricon, and Josef Wolde-Mariam, born in Norway, who took the stage name Critical.
The guys' parents were immigrants from Africa and Ethiopia, and perhaps this fact helped them to some extent find each other.
Little is known about the childhood of star guys. Perhaps because of the modesty of the guys, perhaps because no one translated their memories from the Norwegian language. Various sources claim that the boys' passion for music manifested itself from early childhood.
And this is not unreasonable - talent does not wake up at once, it, as a rule, is polished for years. Only the boys' dates of birth are known. Tshawe Bakvu was born on January 6, 1980 and Yosef Wolde-Mariam was born on August 4, 1978.
The beginning of the Madcon band's career
The first successes for the future stars of the Norwegian show business came when they both independently joined The Paperboys.
Prior to that, they took part in various creative teams. In 1992, the guys decided to create their own group and found an interesting name Mad Conspiracy.
However, for a better sound, they shortened the words into the abbreviation Madcon. With this name entered the history of show business. Their joint project with the Paperboys is the track Barcelona. The track took the top of the charts, opening the way for the team to success.
The video clip filmed for the song won one of the most prestigious awards of the local music channel in the Best Video nomination.
The young team did not deserve any special achievements that year. Unlike friends from the group Paperboys. The guys deservedly won in one of the nominations of the Norwegian analogue of the Grammy music award.
Madcon's debut album
In 2004, their first studio album, It's All a Madcon, was released. All compositions were very interesting, fresh and relevant. However, he did not achieve significant commercial success.
Then came the 2005 single Infidelity. And there was a long-awaited success, based on the release of the track Beggin', the album So Dark the Con of Man.
In the same year, Tshave Bakwa was invited to take part in the Norwegian TV project Skal Vi Danse? - an adapted version of the popular television show, known in our country under the name "Dancing with the Stars".
That year, a talented guy proved to all viewers that his abilities lie not only in composing and performing songs, and not only managed to reach the final, but also became a well-deserved winner of the program.
This was the start of the musicians' television career. On the now-familiar television channel The Voice, friends were given prime time time, and they created their own talk show, The Voice of Madcon.
In the studio, they not only discussed topical topics of concern to the modern public, but also invited famous guests to talk with them on topics of interest to viewers, played tracks of interesting performers. There was also creativity here, each release of the program was accompanied by the group's own works and video clips.
Success on television did not end the band's musical career. The guys still released singles and albums that are popular with the group's fans. In 2010, the album Contraband was released, in the same year their composition Glow, which sounded in the background for the Eurovision Song Contest, became platinum in Germany and native Norway.
In 2012, the album Contact was released, in 2013 - In My Head, and in the same year the guys recorded Icon. In 2014, THE BEST HITS (featuring MIKO) was released a collection of the best tracks in the entire short history of the group.
Madcon group today
The creative team, whose style cannot be described in one word, continues their creative career on television and stage. Not going to stop there.
The guys became presenters on the Norwegian TV channel TV2. In the new game show of the musical direction Kan du teksten?, which is an analogue of the famous domestic program with Valdis Pelsh. In translation, the title means "Do you know the words?".
In 2018, the band's last album, Contact Vol. 2. It's hard to say whether the band's musical career will end there. However, guys whose work contains funk, hip-hop, soul, reggae, African and Latin American notes can surprise the world music community more than once.
