Maybeshewill is one of the most controversial bands in the UK. The members of the band "make" cool instrumental math rock. The team's tracks are "impregnated" with programmed and sampled electronic elements, as well as the sound of guitar, bass, keyboards and drums.
The history of the Maybeshewill group
The guys first announced the birth of a rock band in 2005. Talented guitarists Robbie Southby and John Helps stand at the origins of the group. At that time, the guys studied at one higher educational institution, but dreamed of conquering the heavy stage.
During the existence of the group - the composition changed several times. The band's frontmen were in search of the perfect sound, so the frequent change of musicians was more of a necessary measure.
In 2015, the guys announced the termination of activities. In parting, they skated a big concert tour. But in 2020, the rockers got in touch with their fans to announce the resuscitation of the band.
The creative path of the group
The guys started off with the Japanese Spy Transcript EP. The collection was incredibly warmly received not only by music lovers, but also by music critics. Representatives of the Nottingham's Field Records label drew attention to the artists. Subsequently, on this label, the track was recorded on a split-single together with the Ann Arbor team.
A year later, a remastered version of Japanese Spy Transcript was released on one of the major Japanese labels. In 2007, already in the updated line-up, the guys pleased with the release of several “tasty” tracks.
A year later, the band's discography was replenished with the collection Not For Want Of Trying. In 2008, a joint split with Her Name Is Calla was released. New items were appreciated by numerous "fans".
In 2009, the album Sing the Word Hope in Four-Part Harmony was released. Critics noted that this LP sounds an order of magnitude heavier than previous collections. There were also those who rode the plate "tank". Musicians have been criticized for not experimenting with sound.
Despite the slightly spoiled mood, the artists parted the curtain, announcing that they are working on a new collection. In early 2011, the LP I Was Here For A Moment Then I Was Gone premiered. The recording of the disc took place in an updated line-up. The collection received more flattering comments. Critics were especially flattered that the frontmen listened to their authoritative opinion and made the right conclusions. The tracks that top the album feature live violins and cello.
The breakup of Maybeshewill
In 2015, the band took their fans by surprise with the news of their farewell tour. The guys turned to the "fans" like this:
“So we are now putting together our last tour. The final show of this tour will take place in London in mid-April. Please come and celebrate with us the commemoration of these ten years. The musicians and I want to close this period of the band’s life with dignity, and of course, together with you.”
Maybeshewill: our days
In the winter of 2020, the musicians announced their reunion. Fans were surprised by this decision. However, most of all they were pleased with the news that the guys are working on a musical novelty, which will be released in 2021.
They did not disappoint the expectations of the "fans" and still presented a "delicious" novelty. Longplay was called Refuting. Critics noted that the record is somewhat reminiscent of pre-breakup releases - epic and cinematic instrumental rock with high-quality sound. This is a great longplay in its genre.
The guys went on a big tour, which will end in 2022. By the way, a week ago they had to postpone their performance in London indefinitely. If the coronavirus pandemic and all the ensuing consequences do not interfere with the musicians, then the “fans” will have a really amazing show from Maybeshewill.
