Jorn Lande (Jorn Lande): Biography of the artist

Jorn Lande was born on May 31, 1968 in Norway. He grew up as a musical child, this was facilitated by the passion of the boy's father. 5-year-old Jorn has already become interested in records from such bands as: Deep Purple, Free, Sweet, Redbone.

Origins and history of the Norwegian hard rock star

Jorn was not even 10 years old when he started singing in local youth groups that performed in various Norwegian clubs. As a teenager, he was a member of such bands as Hydra and Road.

But the musician considers 1993 to be the beginning of his career. It was then that he was invited by Ronnie Le Tekro (guitarist of TNT) to participate in the newly created Vagabond project.

This group released only two discs, and they were not very popular, but thanks to working with such well-known musicians, Jorn took over the experience.

Exit to a large audience of Jorn Lande

The next band where Jorn Lande appeared was The Snakes. This band arose thanks to the efforts of former Whitesnake soloists Bernie Marsden and Miku Moody, who worked in the style of hard blues rock.

Yorn has the opportunity to feel like David Coverdale himself! This team has released two records. At the same time, Jorn was involved in the creation of the group's CD Mundanus Imperium.

In the late 1990s, Jorn Lande was already very famous in rock circles, and this influenced his invitation to the band Ark. This team suffered the same fate - it soon broke up.

Work on own projects

At the same time, Jorn recorded his own debut CD. Lande's friends from previous projects took part in the recording. Half of the album was made up of cover versions by such bands as: Deep Purple, Journey, Foreigner, etc.

Meanwhile, many famous personalities drew attention to the young musician. Some projects came to life - Jorn worked with Millenium, recording a disc with them, went on tour with the famous Scandinavian guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, and also sang in Nikolo Kotsev's rock opera Nostradamus.

In 2001, Jorn Lande recorded another solo album, World Changer. This disc did without cover versions and was completely original. It included both hard rock and hard metal. In honor of the 2002 Olympics, Jorn recorded the song Famous. In addition, Nikolo Kotsev once again offered Landa cooperation - recording the fourth album Brazen Fbbot.

The era of work with the Masterplan group and other achievements

Meanwhile, the new contract was not long in coming. A new, super-popular Masterplan group was created, and Lande joined the team. This fact did not prevent him from recording another solo album, The Battl, created in collaboration with Russell Allen, the lead singer of Symphony X.

The Masterplan group had significant success, but problems arose. While working on the second full-length album, Lande did not agree with the rest of the group. Jorn believed that it was necessary to develop further, paying attention to melody, while the partners insisted on the concept of "heavy" metal.

All this led to the fact that in 2006 Lande left the Masterplan group. Parting with this band did not prevent Jorn from releasing a very successful album, The Duke, in which he decided not to experiment anymore and release pure hard rock. Critics and the public liked the disc very much.

Collaboration with other groups

The year 2007 was marked by three full-fledged projects under the Jorn brand: the retro album The Gathering, the two-part live CD Live In Amerika, and the cover CD Unlocking the Past with hits by bands: Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow, etc.

At the same time, Jorn also participated in side projects, for example, as a vocalist for new albums by such stars as Ken Hensley, Ayreon, Avantasia. Also continued co-creation with Allen Russell.

In 2008, Lande's sixth studio album, Lonely are the Brave, was released under the auspices of Frontiers Records. Jorn called this work sincere. The refusal to change direction made itself felt - the collection was a resounding success. Fans enjoyed Lande's familiar direction immensely.

Return to the Masterplan group

And yet, the return to the group took place in 2009. In 2010, Jorn Lande dedicated the disc to Ronnie James Dio, who died of cancer. This album consisted of three parts and contained cover versions of hits by Dio, Black Sabbath, Rainbow and one own version of Song for Ronnie James, for which a video clip was made.

With this work, Lande acknowledged Dio's invaluable influence on him. “The greatest musician and just a man!” Jorn called him. With Allen Russell, the collaboration continued in the form of recording a full-length album for the Allen / Lande project.

This was followed by Jorn's seventh studio disc, in which he decided to present a composition previously performed in the Masterplan group (in a new version of his own, less "metal"), Time to be King. And in 2012, Lande once again said goodbye to this team. Jorn decided to process his own compositions in a symphonic style.
