Kristina Soloviy is a Ukrainian young singer with an amazing soulful voice and a great desire to create, develop and delight her compatriots and fans abroad with her work.
Childhood and youth of Christina Soloviy
Kristina was born on January 17, 1993 in Drohobych (Lviv region). The girl was in love with music since childhood and sincerely believed that music is another organ with which all people feel the world and the people around them.
As the young performer says, it was strange for her to find out that there are people who do not have hearing or voice, and that song and music do not play any role in their life.
In the family of little Christina, all relatives sang and played musical instruments, and in the house they constantly talked about music, musicians and songs. Christina's parents met while studying at the conservatory of their native Lvov.
Now the singer's mother teaches at the choral studio "Zhayvor", the girl's father worked for some time as a civil servant in the department of culture of the city council of Drohobych, and now he dreams of returning to his musical career again.
The grandmother was engaged in the upbringing of the future singer and her brother. She taught the old songs of her native Galicia with the children, told them folk tales and myths, wrote poems and songs to the children, and also taught them to play the piano and bandura.
In addition, it was the grandmother who told her grandchildren that they were of Lemko (an old ethnographic group of Ukrainians) origin.
Such recognition had a great influence on the girl and later played a big role in shaping her musical preferences and worldview.
The girl graduated from music school in piano. When the family moved to Lviv, Khristina sang in the Lemkovyna choir, where she was the youngest member.
She combined her work in the choir with her studies at the Lviv University named after Franko, majoring in Philology.
Kristina Soloviy: the fame of the artist
For the first time, Kristina Solovey announced herself in 2013, when she performed in the popular national song contest "Voice of the Country".
The prehistory of the girl’s participation in the national competition is interesting - the singer was not confident in her abilities, so her university friends filled out the application for her and secretly sent it for consideration. Unlike the performer, classmates did not doubt the success of their friend and believed in her victory.
When, after 2 months, the girl was called to the casting, she was extremely surprised, but nevertheless she went. And I was not mistaken! Her trip to Kyiv turned into a real triumph.
The girl brought several old Lemko compositions to the main show, and went on stage in a real colorful Lemko costume, which her beloved grandmother once wore.
A penetrating original voice and sincere folk words made the star coach and judge Svyatoslav Vakarchuk (leader of the group "Okean Elzy”) to turn around first, even cry.
The talented girl was praised by other coaches, as well as famous Ukrainian performers, including Oleg Skripka и Nina Matvienko, whose opinion for Nightingale was of great importance.
Thanks to the competition, the young performer woke up mega-popular in her country, and also began working with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, whose work she adored.
As Christina said, her songs and compositions are much more famous than herself. But after the “Voice of the Country” contest, the girl firmly decided that music for her is much more important than many things in the world.
Together with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, she recorded several beautiful video clips for her own songs, deciding to work in the classical genre or in her favorite ethno style.
Personal life of the singer
Kristina Soloviy never advertises her personal relationships, but does not deny that there were repeated novels in her life. The girl dreams of a trip to Paris, and when she finds free time, she will definitely go on a trip around the world.
He likes to read and does not like secular parties. In clothes, Christina prefers simple and feminine items in ethnic style with embroideries and national ornaments.
Creativity of the artist
In 2015, the song album "Living Water" was released. It included 12 songs, two of which were written by Christina. Other compositions are adapted Ukrainian folk songs.
Svyatoslav Vakarchuk helped the girl to create the first album. A few weeks later, the first collection of songs Soloviy was included in the list of 10 best albums in 2015.
In 2016, Soloviy was awarded the YUNA award for the best video clip.
In 2018, the song album "Beloved Friend" was released, which consisted of the author's compositions of the girl. As Christina noted, all the songs were the result of her personal feelings, experiences and stories.
In addition to Vakarchuk, her brother Evgeny helped the girl to work on the collection. Also, together with her brother, the girl recorded the song "Path" to the words of Ivan Franko. Soon the song became the official soundtrack of the historical film Kruty 1918.
Until now, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk remains the best friend, mentor and producer of the girl. A few years ago, she constantly consulted with Vakarchuk about her work. Now basically the singer copes with everything herself.
