"Megapolis" is a rock band that was founded in the late 80s of the last century. The group was formed and developed in Moscow. Their debut appearance in public took place in 87. Today, the rockers are greeted no less warmly than from the moment they first appeared on stage.
Group "Megapolis": how it all began
Today Oleg Nestorov and Misha Gabolaev are rightfully considered the "fathers" of the team. The guys met a year before the official premiere of the group. They were brought together by a common passion for music. In 1986, the duo even recorded their debut LP. The following musicians helped them to mix the record: Andrey Belov, Misha Alesin, Arkady Martynenko, Sasha Suzdalev and Igor Zhigunov.
After the release of the collection, the guys found themselves in the spotlight of journalists. They even had several short articles published in the newspaper. Later, they joined Stas Namin's guys. By the way, Stanislav was the author of the lion's share of the group's hits.
Nesterov found himself in the center of a cultural get-together. The most pleasant thing in this process was that he gradually began to acquire so-called useful acquaintances. Soon he agreed to record an album at the famous Melodiya recording studio. During this period of time, G. Petrov was the chief sound engineer of Melodiya.
Thanks to Herman, the guys from Megapolis seemed to have found their own style and defined their individual sound. Petrov helped form the “right” line-up.
The remaining colleagues did not quite agree with the decision to fire the old musicians. At the beginning of the "zero" it was unanimously decided to take a creative break.
Then Gabolaev found Dima Pavlov, Andrey Karasev and Anton Dashkin, who still delight Megapolis fans with cool performances.
The creative path of the rock band
The group was founded at the end of May 1987. It was during this period of time that the guys presented their debut longplay to fans of heavy music, which was filled with intellectual tracks.
A year later, the guys got to the Melodiya recording studio. They managed to record the piece of music "Morning" on vinyl. The sound engineer spoke very flatteringly about the track.
The collection, in a rather short period of time, spread throughout the capital. Soon the record fell into the hands of the popular showman Vanya Demidov. With the help of the latter, the rockers recorded a couple of clips and went on tour.
In the early 90s, they attended a prestigious music festival, which took place on the territory of Berlin. During this period of time, the musicians recorded several works based on the poems of Joseph Brodsky and Andrei Voznesensky.
At the same time, the premiere of the most lyrical LP of the rock group took place, which was called "Motley Winds". Along with popular Russian tracks, the songs were also translated into German.
On the wave of popularity, the rockers started working on the Megapolis compilation. The album made an indelible impression on music lovers. For part of the compositions, the musicians presented clips, which were also appreciated by foreign music lovers.
To consolidate their popularity, the band's leaders initiated the creation of an acoustic record based on one of their solo performances. Soon the band's discography was replenished with the Thunderstorm in the Village project and a collection of tracks in the The Best format.
Creative break of the team "Megapolis"
Frequent changes in the group's lineup led to the desire to suspend the rock band's activities. As a result, the band members took up the promotion of new bands. Among the guys' most striking projects are the Masha and the Bears group and the Underwood team.
Only in the "noughties" the rockers focused on the repertoire of "Megapolis". During this period of time, the musicians presented a new track. We are talking about the composition "Winter". A little later, a song with the original title was released - "Hedgehog, hiding between your legs".
In 2010, Nesterov presented to the fans a full-length LP, which was called "Supertango". The compositions that led the album to the surprise of the "fans" received an updated sound. Thus, the rocker wanted to share his vision of modern music. Some time later, the Russian rock band delighted the audience with the play "From the Life of the Planets" and the ZEROLINES collection.
Group "Megapolis": our days
In 2019, the musicians pleased with the visualization of the track "Three Matches" to the verses of Jacques Prevert. In the same year, the rockers announced that they were working closely on a new studio album, which is scheduled for release in 2020.
At the end of the first autumn month of 2020, the premiere of the disc with the thematic title "November" took place. The track list of the collection consisted of songs written on the verses of Russian poets of the last century.
The year 2021 was not left without good news for fans. So, this year it became known that the rock band "Megapolis" will present a concert version of the LP "November". This event took place in mid-June 2021 as part of the 7th Red Square Book Festival.
"The highlight of the performance will be the visuals from the artist Andrey Vradiy. Our fans probably know that Andrey and I have been friends for many years. Vradiy made cool pictures for each track from our new collection," the band members said.
