Two years later, the team took its current name. Significant recognition from the general public was achieved in 2003, and the band released their pilot album Hopes and Fears a year later.

The beginning of the creative path of the group

The English trio was created in the small local town of Battle. It is interesting that the members of the group knew each other before. For example, Rice-Oxley's younger brother Tom was born on the same birthday as Chaplin in the same maternity hospital.

Moms of newborns became friends while in the hospital walls, and then continued to communicate after discharge. The locality where the guys lived is not rich in entertainment (football, TV and music).

Teenagers languished in idleness until they decided to do something interesting and useful. And so the Keane group was born.

Young people devoted all their free time to music, studied playing the piano. The future soloist got tired of traditional works very quickly, the idea arose to leave this business, but one day he discovered that knowledge was enough to perform Buddy Holly's songs.

After this revelation, Tim got a simple Casio brand synthesizer. Now the boy was in business! He could sit in his room and play non-stop - he repeated famous songs, wrote his own melodies.

The basis of the future team was a case that happened in the lives of the participants for a reason. Tim's classmate (Richard) was a drummer, which he really liked. Soon they were joined by guitarist Dominic Scott. Chaplin appeared in 1997, working as a rhythm guitarist, and a little later became a frontman.

With Lotus Eaters, the team was renamed Cherry Keane. Later they began to use an abbreviated version of Keane. The band's official pilot performance was in July 1998 at Hope & Anchor, a small venue known locally. From time to time, the guys played in beer bars, but they did not have unsurpassed success.

Slowly but surely

The guys recorded the song Call Me What You Like, which was successful, so they soon began to sell CDs of it after the completion of each of the performances. 500 units of recorded copies of the song were soon sold out.

During 2000-2001 Keane acted little, but regularly, selling discs with works after concerts. The money received was enough to record songs. This is how Wolf at the Door known to many music lovers appeared.

Despite the fact that the CD with the aforementioned song sold out in 30 days (only 500 CDs), Dominic Scott felt that the team could not see success, so he returned to the academy.

Frustrated by the “failure”, the musicians decided to return home, but by coincidence, the French producer offered to help record the disc in his recording studio. The idea to make the piano the main instrument of the group appeared there. In the autumn of 2001 the band returned to England with many recorded compositions. After that, the group resumed their concerts.

During the year they tried to make money by selling discs, but did not succeed in this. At one of the concerts, they were spotted by the owner of the well-known independent brand Fierce Panda, Simon Williams. So the song Everybody's Changing was released, which in a short time broke all records of popularity.

The unexpected success of the group

In the winter of 2004, the band found themselves in the famous BBC Music Poll, which was conducted every 12 months. Since then, they have been predicted to be a significant success. Everything came true! Hopes and Fears was released in the spring of the same year and became the most sold-out musical product of the year in the country.

Thanks to the disc, the team received the Brit Awards in the nominations "Best Group" and "Breakthrough of the Year". After that, the guys went on a world tour, which they were content with for almost two years.

In the spring of 2005, Keane launched another project - the second album under the enchanting title Under the Iron Sea. It appeared on the shelves in June, and by the first month of autumn, over 1 million copies were sold.

The team, inspired by the success, planned a series of concerts in support of the album, but at the end of the summer the plans collapsed. The plans had to be abandoned, as vocalist Tom announced that he intended to go to the clinic to recover from drug and alcohol addiction.

Perfect Symmetry is the group's third compilation album. In the spring of 2007, during the interview, the band members talked about the fact that they want to add organ melodies to it.

The group presented the song The Night Sky for the benefit of charity, namely War Child, an organization engaged in good deeds in the country. The composition was written for children who had significant moral and physical losses during the war years.

The album was released on October 13, 2008. A week later, he took the 1st position in many charts, became very popular. Thus, the efforts of the team members were appreciated.
