Musicians of the NOFX group create tracks in the punk rock genre. The hardcore lodge of alcoholics-entertainers NOFX was created in 1983 in Los Angeles.
Members of the team have repeatedly admitted that they created the team for fun. And not only for their own amusement, but also for the public.
The NOFX group (originally the musicians performed under the creative pseudonym NO FX) initially positioned itself as a trio. The group included:
- Fat Mike (bass and vocals);
- Eric Melvin (guitar and vocals);
- Scott (percussion instruments).
But nothing lasts forever, especially when it comes to youth groups. The composition of the team changed several times. This, by the way, benefited the NOFX group. Their music has gotten sweeter and sweeter every year.
Combining reggae with heavy metal, mocking the inviolable shrines of human civilization, the band members managed to repeatedly achieve bans on their own concerts both in their homeland and around the world.
The history of the creation and composition of the NoEfEx group
The history of the team dates back to the mid-1980s. Eric Melvin and Dillan, who had already tried to perform under the wing of "promising" groups, wanted to create a team.
Initially, the musicians reacted to the idea without much enthusiasm, but for the sake of fun. Later, Eric and Dillan realized that they were ready to create a unique group that would gather full stadiums of fans.
The musicians understood that it was time for them to expand. Dillan brought in Mike Burkett (the same Fat Mike). At that time, Mike had already been part of the False Alarm group. Then another Steve was brought into the group.
The first rehearsal did not take place. The fact is that Stephen did not get from Orange County, and Dillan disappeared altogether. He later explained that he no longer wanted to perform on stage. As a result, drummer Eric Sandin joined the band.
As already mentioned above, in the future the composition changed several times. Today the group consists of: Fat Mike (the musician managed to become famous for his unpredictable behavior on stage, wild hair color and dressing in women's outfits), two Erics and Aaron Abeyta, aka El Jefe.
Melvin recalled that at the initial stage of his creative career, he often went to visit Burkett, where acquaintances listened for hours to all the "punk" records available in the house. Among other albums was the only collection of the then already broken-up team Negative FX. Thus, the defunct team found a second life in the name NOFX.
Music by NOFX
Already in 1988, NOFX presented the debut album Liberal Animation. The most interesting thing about this album is that it took the band members only three days to record the record.
On one of the 14 songs (Shut Up Already) you can hear the guitar riffs of the legendary British Led Zeppelin. The musicians recorded the first video clip for the presented track.
In 1989, the group's discography was replenished with the second studio album S & M Airlines. After the release of their second studio album, the musicians recorded several more successful records. In 1994 they presented the Punkin Drublic album. Subsequently, the presented collection received a "gold" certification. The same fate befell the album So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes.
By 2016, the American band has replenished their discography with six worthy albums. After productive work, the group announced that they were taking a two-year break.
When the musicians had a rest, they presented the fans with a musical novelty - the single There's No 'Too Soon' if Time is Relative, and then the record Ribbed - Live in a Dive.
All members of the group today are millionaires. By the way, the musicians say that their financial situation does not worsen their punk reputation too much (with the exception of juvenile thrill-seekers who read Maximum Rock 'n' Roll).
Mike is an enthusiastic golfer. The musician gave up a bad habit. Now he doesn't eat meat. Chimney sweep El Jefe became the owner of a nightclub, which he named Hefe's. NOFX's oldest member, Eric Melvin, owns a coffee shop in Los Angeles.
Despite the huge employment, the musicians do not forget about their main brainchild. Members of the NOFX group continue to perform on stage. They publish the latest news on the official Instagram page.

- The NoFEx group does not appear on MTV (except for the Brazilian and Canadian music channel), because MTV aired their video without the knowledge of the band members.
- The musicians went on their first tour in 1985.
- The group has sold over 6 million records worldwide. They are one of the most successful independent bands in history.
- The band distributes all its recordings on its own. Musicians do not want to cooperate with producers, record companies and labels.
- NOFX's lyrics are often sarcastic, dealing with politics, society, subcultures, racism, the record industry and religion.
NOFX group today
2019 began for fans of the punk band with new music. The band members presented the tracks Fishin a Gun Barrel, Scarlett O'Heroin.
In addition, this year Fat Mike finished work on his solo alter ego Cokie the Clown. The release was called You're Welcome. The album was released on April 26th.
The musicians decided to devote the whole of 2020 to touring activities.
