Joe Mulerin (nothing, nowhere) is a young performer from Vermont. His "breakthrough" in SoundCloud gave a "new breath" to such a musical direction as emo rock, reviving it with a classical direction focused on modern musical traditions. His musical style is a combination of emo rock and hip hop, thanks to which Joe creates the pop music of tomorrow.

Childhood and youth of Joe Mulerin

The musician grew up in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Joe was a shy and sensitive child, with a kind, subtle nature. He liked to spend his free time in his room listening to music. In 2nd grade, Joe had his first panic attack. After this incident, the boy began to experience a feeling of anxiety, which has not gone away to this day. 

As an adult, Joe shared that music is psychotherapy for him. “If there was no music,” he said, “I would feel much, much worse.” Thanks to music, I have the opportunity to throw out the bad moments in life in order to get rid of and forget about them. It helps".

When Joe was 12 years old, he began taking guitar lessons and at the same time immersed himself in music, finding his inspiration in bands such as Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail. Joe first performed emo covers by Jim Jones and 50 Cent, which he posted on MySpace.

In addition to the musical direction, the guy tried himself in directing. In high school, he filmed and edited videos with friends for local business owners. In 2013, his work Watcher was evaluated at the competition for young amateur directors of short films and sent to participate in the Cannes Film Festival.

After school, Joe went to college in Burlington - a real haven for hippies. Having previously adopted a straight edge philosophy (no drugs, alcohol, and casual relationships), Joe began to practice veganism. Love for nature and life beliefs led Joe to the desire to save the environment.

Therefore, since 2017, the musician has donated part of his income to the non-profit organization The Trust for Public Land. Its mission is to create parks and squares, to preserve forests to provide future generations with a healthy, livable environment.

Nothing, nowhere: the beginning of the path

In 2015, Joe Murelin created an account on SoundCloud called never, forever. And already in June he released his debut album The Nothing. Nowhere. The album quickly found its listener. Thanks to the rapid increase in popularity on the Internet, Joe found his listener all over the world. It was this connection with fans that prompted the musician to work on himself, overcome fears, innate isolation, modesty and go on stage to share his art. 

Joe sees the potential to help his listeners through difficult life situations, to make a difference, no matter how small. This is how he brought his music from his state to the world stage.  

In 2017, the musician released the sensational second album REAPER. A year later, in 2018, he pleased with the second part of the RUINER album. Its cover was decorated with a photo from the video of the same name.

According to critics, Joe Murelin's music is new, incomparable. Music critic and columnist for the New York Times, John Keramanica, put the artist's album in 1st position in the list of the best albums of the outgoing year. And Rolling Stone magazine declared RUINER the most promising pop album of 2018.

In the same 2018, the performer nothing, nowhere signed a contract with the music label Fueled By Ramen. Then he went on tour in the US and Europe.

With the increase in popularity, Joe received many letters from "fans", grateful that the performer entered their lives at the most difficult moments. The musician understands the feelings of people, because they are close to him. He writes about life as it is, with all its anxieties, problems and pain. His music is a way to convey the idea that happiness is in the little things.

Joe spent every summer in Vermont, and in 2017 he moved there permanently. The performer considers the nature of Vermont to be his outlet and muse.
