Singing career of Paula Abdul

Soon, the experienced choreographer decided to start her own path to a successful career as a singer. Unfortunately, the American's vocal abilities turned out to be not as good as her dancing ones. Therefore, the dancer had to constantly study with teachers in order to achieve a decent sound.

The efforts were not in vain, and already in 1987, at her own expense, the aspiring vocalist recorded a trial disc. He was appreciated by the head of the Virgin Records label. In 1989, in collaboration with the record company, Paula presented the album "Forever Your Girl".

The debut collection immediately climbed to the first positions of all American charts, besides, it held the lead in the Billboard 10 for 200 weeks. The debut album went platinum in the USA. The main hit from the first album was the song "Straight Up". The composition gained fame thanks to the black-and-white video clip, in which the choreography, staged by the artist herself, was performed.

Crisis in the career of Paula Abdul

The big success was followed by the first test: in 1990, the artist was faced with a disease of the ligaments. Taking advantage of the current situation, the singer's backing vocalist stated that almost all of the singer's compositions were recorded not by the American diva, but by her.

Despite the fact that Paula won the lawsuit and legalized the copyright, the general health of the woman suffered greatly. She stopped singing for a while.

A year later, the singer returned to her musical career. In 1991, her compilation album Spellbound was released. The album was sold with a huge circulation and gave connoisseurs of creativity such hits as: "Rush, rush", "Will you marry me" and "Rock House".

In 1995, Paula Abdul released her third compilation, Head Over Heels. The album was sold out with 3 million copies. Unfortunately, the success of the singer was overshadowed: health problems intervened again. The development of bulimia, which the girl had previously suffered from, almost led her to death. Fortunately, the dancer survived this series of troubles.
