Pierre Bachelet was born on May 25, 1944 in Paris. His family, who ran the laundry, lived in Calais before coming to Paris. Studying at school was very difficult for young Pierre. After graduation, the guy entered the film school on Vaugirard Street in Paris.

When the young man received his diploma, he went to Brazil to film the documentary Bahiomeù Amor. In Paris, he took up advertising activities. There, Pierre met several future directors, such as Patrice Leconte and Jean-Jacques Annaud. Subsequently, Bachelet got a job.

In the mid-1960s, he was hired as a sound illustrator for the well-known television program of the time, Dim Dam Dom (which did not stop him from doing occasional reporting).

Little by little, Pierre Bachelet created his own musical "Universe". He began writing music for documentaries and commercials made by his friends.

Among these friends was Juste Jaquin, the future director of erotic films. He asked the talented singer to write music for his first feature film, Emmanuelle (1974).

The success of the film made it and the soundtrack popular. Sold 1 million 400 thousand copies of the album and 4 million copies of the single. This was followed by work on the musical score for the film Coupdetête by Jean-Jacques Annaud (1978) and Les Bronzés Font du Ski by Patrice Lecon (1979).

The first successes of Pierre Bachelet

In 1974, Pierre Bachelet tried his hand at music with the song L'Atlantique. Thanks to the song, he found his first success as a singer. But it was in 1979 that two French producers, François Delaby and Pierre-Alain Simon, invited him to record the album Elle Est d'Ailleurs, which was released the following year. 

This record and the single with the same name became successful - about 1,5 million copies were sold. The work was written in collaboration with Jean-Pierre Lang, with whom Bachelet worked for many more years.

It was with this man that he composed the anthem of Normandy (the northern region of France) called Les Corons. The same region, piled with coal mines, which is native to the singer. The anthem gained immense fame, and over the years it was considered a real classic of the singer. The song also appeared on an album released in 1982.

In the same year, for the first time in his life, Bachelet took the stage in the first part of a speech by humorist Patrick Sebastian. The debut took place on the stage of Olympia in Paris. Then the singer began touring France, Belgium and Switzerland.

After a few months in the studio, Pierre Bachelet released a new album in 1983. The two main compositions of the album were: Quitte-moi and Embrasse-moi. The artist dedicated these songs to his mother, who recently died. Then everything happened logically. Performance on the stage of Olympia in 1984 and another tour of France.

A relatively shy person with a little interest in the life of show business, a travel lover, owner of his own boat, able to pilot an airplane. Yes, yes, it's all about Pierre Bachelet. He decided to continue his quiet life with his wife Danielle and son Quentin (born 1977). They were all amazed at the consequences of his popularity, which was after the release of Les Corons.

However, in 1985 the singer again released a new album, where you can hear the songs of En L'an 2001, Marionnettiste ou Quand L'enfant Viendra. Immediately after the release, a tour took place in French-speaking European countries, with the obligatory appearance on the stage of Olympia in Paris, where the singer managed to record the performance on camera.

Career growth and loyal audience Pierre Bachelet

The following year, another original album was released, the main compositions of which were called: Vingt Ans, Partis Avant D'avoir Tout Dit and C'est Pour Elle.

His audience is devoted to him, so Bachelet tried not to disappoint them. After each new opus, he went on tour with a visit to Olympia. Bachelet, being a quiet man in love with the sea, invited the French yachtswoman Florence Artaud to sing the song Flo as a duet. Listeners liked the composition, so Bachelet included it on his double album Quelque Part, C'est Toujours Ailleurs (1989).

After the live record Bachelet la Scène (1991), a review of his singing career came out in the form of a collection of 20 famous hits by Pierre Bachelet. The album was called 10 Ans de Bachelet Pour Toujours.

A new original album, Laissez Chanter le Français, soon followed, where you can hear songs such as Les Lolas and Elle Est Maguerre, Elle Est Mafemme. Obviously, they planned a tour that would cover: the French island of Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, Sweden and Belgium. In 1994, Pierre Bachelet also gave a concert in Montreal (Quebec).

Collaboration between Pierre Bachelet and Jean-Pierre Lang

For many years, Pierre Bachelet has worked with the lyricist Jean-Pierre Lang. And yet, in 1995, a new album was released, the lyrics of which belonged to the writer Jan Keffelek (Goncourt 1985 - French literary prize), who had already known Bachelet before.

The album La Ville Ainsi Soit-il consisted of 10 tracks and explored the theme of the city. The cover and booklet are designed by artist and designer Philippe Druyet. The tours resumed again because the stage was the performer's privileged place of contact with his audience.

Album L'homme Tranquille "Quiet Man"

Only in 1998 did the singer release a new album with the modest title L'homme Tranquille ("The Quiet Man"). The lyrics are written by both Jean-Pierre Lang and Jan Keffelec.

Pierre Bachelet dedicated the composition Le Voilier Noir to the famous navigator Eric Tabarly, who disappeared at sea in 1998.

For the first time in a long time, Bachelet entrusted the creation of his album to someone other than himself: guitarist Jean-Francois Oriselli and his son Quentin Bachelet. In January 1999, he took the stage at the Olympia in Paris after composing the soundtrack for the Jean Becker film Les Enfants du Marais. Two years later, Pierre Bachelet released a very intimate new album, Une Autre Lumière. Unfortunately, the work has remained little known.

Fans had to wait another two years for the singer to release Bachelet Chante Brel's new album, Tu Ne Nous Quittes Pas, while the 25th anniversary of the hit singer Orly's death is being celebrated across the French-speaking world.

In 2004, the author of the hits Vingt Ans and Les Corons celebrated his 30th career anniversary with a series of concerts at the Casino de Paris from 19 to 24 October. The popular singer knew that from 1974 to 2004. had a very favorable audience. Loyal fans followed him on every tour and took every one of his songs to heart.
