Creation of the group and the first steps of the Quiet Riot group

In 1973, Randy Rhoads (guitar) and Kelly Garney (bass) were looking for a frontman to form a band. During this period, they met Kevin DuBrow, who joined them in the group. Initially, the musical group performed as Mach 1, but then was renamed Little Woman.

The second name, like the first, did not last long, and the musicians again changed it to Quiet Riot. The idea to rename the band arose after a conversation between DuBrow and Rick Parfitt (vocalist of the British rock band Status Quo).

After drummer Drew Forsythe joined the band, the musicians began performing in clubs in Los Angeles. The guys managed to gather an audience, but they did not manage to sign a contract with recording studios or a label.

The search for a studio took almost two years. And in 1977, the group signed an agreement with Sony and released the long-awaited album. It was just a small winning step. Since the album was sold only in Japan, and it was not released in the United States.

In the compositions included in the first Quiet Riot I album, one could hear the influence Alice Cooper, groups Sweet, Humble Pie. They were "raw". But all subsequent songs (from the Quiet Riot II album) revealed the skill of the members of the musical group.

After working on the second album, bassist Kelly Garni left the band and was replaced by Cuban Rudy Sarzo. Then Randy Rhoads left the team for Ozzy Osbourne, which led to the disintegration of the rock band.

The further fate and fame of the Quiet Riot team

Kevin DuBrow managed to assemble the group again. First, he created a team that had his name. But after the tragic death (plane crash) of Randy Road, he returned the old name Quiet Riot to the group. The newly created project consisted of participants: Rudy Sarzo, Frankie Banalli, Kevin DuBrow, Carlos Cavazo.

In 1982, on the advice of producer Spencer Proffer, the musicians signed an agreement with CBS Records. A year later, they released the first American album, Metal Health. Only six months have passed since the release of the disc. And he managed to overcome the "platinum" milestone and take the 1st position in the hit parade.

At that time, 6 million copies of the album were sold. A cover version of the group's song Slade Cum on Feel the Noise, according to Billboard magazine, was one of the best US singles. And this is the first of the compositions in the style of heavy metal, which has reached such heights. On the Hot 100 Singles chart, the song stayed at number 5 for two weeks. Neighboring positions were occupied by groups: Judas Priest, Scorpions,Loverboy, ZZ Top, Iron Maiden. From 1983 to 1984 the musical group performed "as an opening act" for the group Black Sabbath.

From success to another failure

Seeing the success of Quiet Riot, Pasha Records offered to record the second part of the popular Metal Health album. The guys agreed and released a new album, Condition Critical. It included a popular cover version of Cum on Feel the Noise. But the album came out very similar to the first part. He was of the same type, this led to the fact that some of the fans left the group.

Sarzo left the band in 1985, and Chuck Wright was taken in his place. The quality of the music decreased - instead of guitar sounds, keyboard motifs prevailed. Soon, fans turned their backs on the former idols. DuBrow began using drugs. And the rest of the band kicked him out, they couldn't stand his antics. With the departure of Kevin, no one remained from the original composition of the team.

Quiet Riot joined vocalist Paul Sciortino in 1988, followed by the release of QR IV. Then Banali left the project, and the group ceased to exist again. And at that time, DuBrow was defending the right to the Quiet Riot name in court. In the early 1990s, he managed to restore excellent relations with Cavazo. Bassist Kevin Hillery and drummer Bobby Rondinelli joined the band. The musicians released a very good quality album Terrified, but it was not commercially successful.

The “failure” might not have happened if the Moonstone Records label had taken care of the “promotion” of the album in advance. DuBorough began to improve the album released in Japan. Some tracks that were not included earlier were added to it, and the vocals were rewritten. For some time, the musicians managed to attract the attention of "fans". In 1995 they released a new album, Down to the Bone. Then the team disappeared from the field of view of the "fans".

New rise of Quiet Riot

In 1999, the group performed a small concert called Alive & Well. After the Guilty Pleasures album, the musicians broke up again. DuBrow released his own solo album, In for the Kill. And in 2005, the group pleased its fans with a reunion and renewal of the line-up. The Quiet Riot team went with the bands Cinderella, FireHouse, Ratt on a US city tour.

DuBrow's death was another blow to the team. He died from a drug overdose. This happened after the release of the studio album Rehub. This time the team did not break up. Frankie Banali, after an agreement with DuBrow's relatives, took up the restoration of the band, and Mark Huff took the place of the vocalist.

In 2010, new songs were recorded. Fans could find them digitally on Amazon and iTunes. But soon they were removed from there by the members of the group. They explained this step by the inability to find a suitable label for "promotion".
