History of Rag'n'Bone Man

Rag'n'Bone Man (real name Rory Charles Graham) was born on January 29, 1985 in Uckfield, East Sussex.

Rory was one of those kids who was called problem when he was growing up. He was expelled at one time from the school - the Royal Ringmer Academy.

Rory could then attend Uckfield Community College of Technology in his hometown. It was more of a necessity, Rag'n'Bone Man never liked school.

One day, he talked about leaving his school assignments and leaving with his friends for a CD store. From there they went to the house of one of his friends and made drum and bass records.

Rag'n'Bone Man's interest in music was planted by his parents and filled with Roots Manuva. This is an English rapper and producer who is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of British music.

Rag'n'Bone Man is said to have been working on becoming an MC until he started listening to Manuva's songs.

Rory fell in love with American hip-hop. So he started rapping and singing. He also got his parents interested in jazz and soul music. Working to combine his musical exposure, he created his own musical style.

When the Graham family moved to Brighton, Rory and his friends formed the rap group Rum Committee. And he began performing live at events through which he met those who helped him break into the music industry.

Surprisingly, Rag'n'Bone Man was never taught to sing. He sang a lot, listened to himself and tried to do it even better.

Rory is single, but has been in love with Beth Rowe for over 8 years. Now they have more than the love they share. The couple was excited about the arrival of their first child in September 2017.

Rag'n'Bone Man career

In 2012, he completed work on his debut Bluestown EP with Gi3mo producing the music. The combination of hip-hop and blues became a hit in local pubs and youth clubs. Rag gained a significant amount of "fans" after the release of his EP.

Soon the High Focus label offered Rag a contract. Under the contract, the singer worked with several musicians, such as Leaf Dog and Dirty Dike. He worked on their albums in 2013 and 2014 before he teamed up with popular record producer Mark Crew.

Mark was a big name in the British music scene and was working with the popular band Bastille when he got involved with Rag. By that time, American record companies began to show interest in the singer. And the American label Warner Chappell offered him a contract.

In 2014, Rory released his first big project, an EP called Wolves. It was a collaborative effort with Mark Crew and was released under Best Laid Plan Records. The album consisted of 9 tracks, it included several up-and-coming rappers: Vince Staples, Stig Dump and Keith Tempest.

Rory also continued to work on his own projects. Best Laid Plan Records released the next EP, Disfigured. The single from the album Bitter End was played on BBC Radio 1 Xtra.

Contract with Columbia Records

Columbia Records soon signed him to a contract. Through this collaboration, Rag became a worldwide success. In July 2016, Rag released the single Human, which became an immediate success. It topped the music charts in several European countries and was certified gold in many of them.

The song was chosen by the creators of the Amazon Prime series The Oasis as the theme song for the series. The song was also used in the launch trailer for the video game Mass Effect: Andromeda and in the TV series Into the Badlands and Inhumans.

In February 2017, the full-length album Human was released. In addition to the single Human, another song from the Skin album became very successful. The album also featured musicians such as Mark Crew, Johnny Coffer and Two Inch Punch.

Upon release, the album became a hit both locally and internationally. It debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and became the biggest selling debut album of the 2010s. Although critics had mixed opinions about the album, listeners all over the world loved it.

Rag appeared on the song Broken People (2017) by Will Smith, star of Bright, which was released worldwide on Netflix. It also appeared on the single from the fifth studio album Humanz by virtual band Gorillaz.

Awards

Rag'n'Bone has received several prestigious awards and nominations. He was in the spotlight at the 2017 Brit Awards. In addition to being awarded the British Breakthrough Award, the English songwriter and singer received the Critics' Choice Award.

Moreover, the musician was nominated for the NRJ Music Award. He received the Best New Artist award at the 2017 MTV European Music Awards.

Meanwhile, in Germany, Rag'n'Bone won the "International Male Artist" award. Also went home with the "International Rookie Laurel" at the 2017 Echo Awards. 2017 was the most memorable year of Rag'n'Bone Man.
