Sam Brown (Sam Brown): Biography of the singer

Samantha Brown (real name of the artist) was born on October 7, 1964, in London. She was lucky to be born in the family of a guitarist and singer. A creative atmosphere reigned in the Browns' house, which undoubtedly contributed to the development of musical taste in Samantha herself.

Famous musicians and actors often visited the house of the Brown family. As a child, she met Steve Marriott and Dave Gilmour. In an interview, she admitted that she suffered from a lack of parental attention. Father and mother often toured, therefore, they could not devote time to Samantha. But, in any case, the parents managed to develop a warm and trusting relationship with their daughter.

In her teenage years, she composes her first poems. Then Samantha wrote the first piece of music. We are talking about the composition of Window People.

Despite the fact that family ties could influence the choice of profession, Samantha could not decide for a long time: who she wants to become in adulthood. For some time, Sam worked as a vocalist in a jazz orchestra. Her parents and family friends helped her take her first independent steps in the music industry.

In the late 70s, she collaborated with the Small Faces. In the team, Sam was listed as a backing vocalist. Her voice sounds on the LP In The Shade. A little later, she collaborated with Steve Marriott. Samantha helped the singer mix a solo disc.

She had every chance for self-realization. Everything was conducive to the fact that she realized herself as a solo performer. Her parents stood behind her, but she wanted self-realization.

Samantha recorded her debut demo at her own expense. She refused the help of her parents. Her friends Robbie McIntosh and keyboardist Wicks took part in the recording of the following pieces of music.

The creative path of Sam Brown

In her creative biography there was a stage of collaboration with Barclay James Harvest and Spandau Ballet. In the mid-80s, she received an offer from A&M. Samantha signed a contract with the label and started recording her debut LP. To record the album, Sam took advantage of the connections of relatives. The record was produced by her brother. In 1988, the LP Stop! premiered.

The single from the debut LP eventually became the hallmark of the artist. He took first place in the music charts in England, Germany, the Netherlands. To the Soviet public the track Stop! remembered thanks to the clip, which was broadcast on local television. In the video clip, Samantha appeared before the audience in a charming outfit.

The debut LP was filled with pieces of music, which can be logically combined with one word "assorted". The songs were recorded in such genres as jazz, rock, pop. The record sold several million copies, which was a good indicator for an aspiring singer. The debut compilation is the most successful album in Sam Brown's discography.

In the early 90s, the singer's discography was replenished with the second collection. We are talking about the album April Moon. The second studio album, unlike the first, sold extremely poorly. Sam did not panic and continued to work on new musical material.

Three years later, the premiere of the record 43 Minutes took place. Alas, but she did not correct the affairs of the artist.

The presented album sold even worse than April Moon. Her singing career did not work out for one reason - her manner of presenting musical material was not clear to every music lover. In addition, in the 90s, she experienced a strong emotional upheaval amid problems due to the deteriorating health of her mother.
Recording label A&M, which was producing the artist at the time, offered to add commercial sound to the new tracks, but Sam refused. Sam said goodbye to the label.

She continued to work as a solo singer and backing vocalist.

At the end of the 90s on her own label, Sam released the LP Box. The release of the record was supported by the Demon label. The record sold poorly. Just over 15 copies were sold.

At the beginning of the 2006s, the singer's discography was replenished with the Reboot collection. Three years later, she began collaborating with Dave Roverey and Jon Lord. In XNUMX, the artist launched a large-scale tour of the UK.

In 2007, Samantha shared with fans that she was working on a new album. The performer decided to involve fans in creating the name of the LP. One of the "fans" suggested that the collection be called Of the moment. The singer liked the title. Thus, the new disc was called Of the moment.

Throughout her creative career, she "made" music for herself and her fans. Sam tried to avoid the recognition of music critics. She did not seek the recognition of experts, and even more so did not see herself as a commercial singer.

In 2008, she got in touch to tell the bad news that the singer had lost her voice. She did not look for a way out of this situation. Since 2008, she has stopped recording new pieces of music.
