Childhood and youth years of the artist

He was born at the end of October 1966. Zhilin was born in the very heart of Russia - Moscow. He was lucky to be brought up in a creative family. Grandmother Zhilina, became famous as a music teacher. She skillfully played the violin and piano.

Sergei's grandmother said that if her grandson had no greater future, then at least he would become a good musician. From the age of four, he sat at musical instruments for 4-6 hours a day. Then Zhilin Jr. did not regard the profession of a musician. Childhood "rebelled" in him.

He attended a school for gifted children, which worked at the conservatory. By the way, Zhilin studied poorly, which cannot be said about his successes and achievements in the musical field.

As a teenager, Sergei experienced a frantic pleasure from listening to classical music. But one day he got into the hands of the long-play "Leningrad Dixieland". Zhilin of unconsciousness fell in love with the sound of jazz. This upset my grandmother, who saw him as an exclusively classical musician.

He refused to study at the military music school, and insisted that he be transferred to a regular school. But, in this educational institution, he also did not last long. Soon he will submit a document to the vocational school. Sergei got a profession that is far from music. Then Zhilin repaid his debt to the Motherland. In the army, he joined the military ensemble. Thus, the young man never left his beloved work for a long time.

According to Zhilin, throughout his life he was sure that a person needs to replenish knowledge and improve himself. Some time later, he received a master's degree in art from the International Academy of Sciences in San Marino.

The creative path of the artist Sergey Zhilin

In the early 80s, he caught fire to enter the music studio. By the end of the first year, a duet was formed. Sergei Zhilin performed on the same stage with Mikhail Stefanyuk. They delighted admirers of classical music with unsurpassed piano playing.

They first appeared on the professional scene in the mid-80s. Then Sergey and Mikhail performed at a prestigious jazz fest. A little later, Zhilin met another accomplished musician, Yuri Saulsky.

Actually the latter, and invited the duet to take part in the jazz festival. Thanks to this performance, thousands of people learned about the duet. Gradually, the guys acquired the first fans.

Then Zhilin took part in a large-scale tour with the artistic director and conductor of the Presidential Orchestra, Pavel Ovsyannikov. It was a great way to express yourself in a cultural environment. In one of the interviews, Sergey said that he gained popularity and love of fans for a long time.

“I went to popularity and demand for a long time. The more important I become, the more I have to work. I am kind to the fans, so I exclude any mistakes on my part. I never counted on take-offs, I knew that in order to reach certain heights, you need to work hard.

Zhilin's work in Phonograph

By the mid-90s of the last century, the Zhilin Orchestra merged with the Phonograph Cultural Center, which united several groups under its "roof". The basis of the "Big Band" is talented musicians who played in the musical "Chicago".

"Jazz Band" wanted to reach a new level. They took a reference to electronic music, which is “seasoned” with lightness, which in principle was not typical for this musical direction during this period of time.

Sergei Zhilin's Phonograph Orchestra is a regular participant in various festivals in Russia and abroad, as well as a participant in Russian art festivals in Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Macedonia, the CIS countries, Turkey, and India.

Some time later, Zhilin founded an educational institution of pop and jazz art, as well as a recording studio. Interestingly, the latter is still functioning. Russian stars of show business are recorded in it.

Note that Sergey independently creates arrangements. Over a long creative career, he recorded several worthy LPs, which are still in demand among fans today.
