Sevak Tigranovich Khanagyan, better known under the pseudonym Sevak, is a Russian singer of Armenian origin. The author of his own songs became famous after the world-famous Eurovision 2018 music contest, on the stage of which the artist performed as a representative from Armenia.
Childhood and youth Sevak
Singer Sevak was born on July 28, 1987 in the Armenian village of Metsavan. The future participant in Russian and Ukrainian television shows received an excellent musical taste from his father, who taught the child to be creative. Dad often took the guitar in his hands, performing Armenian folk songs for his wife, children and close relatives.
When the boy first heard the famous song "Black Eyes", he asked his father to teach him how to play a musical instrument.
Thanks to his talent and his father's love for music, Sevak has been striving for creative success since childhood. At the age of 7, the boy took his first lessons in using an electronic synthesizer. Then the guy made an important decision by enrolling in a music school. The next years of the singer passed on the territory of the creative school, where he gained knowledge of playing the button accordion.
After graduating from the 7th grade at an Armenian secondary school, Sevak moved with his family to the Russian city of Kursk. As the next educational institution, the guy chose the creative Kursk College of Arts.
Then the future singer entered the State Classical Academy. Maimonides. A student of the pop-jazz faculty, an excellent student and an activist, received a graduate diploma in 2014.
Musical creativity of Sevak
The first truly notable visit to the stage took place in mid-2015. The not-so-famous TV show "Main Stage" became the venue for the singer's debut.
The composition "Dancing on Glass" by Maxim Fadeev, natural talent, excellent sense of rhythm and excellent voice are the factors that forced the jury chairmen to accept the young man as the main cast of the program.
Sevak, who continued to work on the show in the Fadeev team, managed to reach the quarterfinals. The singer was pleased with his result. According to him, he did not really believe in his victory and participated in the show for the priceless experience of working with the best producer in the country.
The next appearance of the singer, performing under the name Sevak, took place at the end of the same 2014. The young artist took part in the casting for the talent show "Voice". Passing the round (blind audition), the young man performed one of the hits of the legendary Viktor Tsoi, the song "Cuckoo".
Thanks to the interpretation of this composition, the jury favored the future star.
The guy received recognition of talent from the famous rapper Vasily Vakulenko. Later, the artist got into a group with Polina Gagarina. The young man won the next round of the Voice show, beating a famous jazz performer. Sevak's presence in the program ended at the Trio stage.
Participation in the show "X-Factor"
The next time Sevak appeared before the audience of television screens as one of the heroes of the popular Ukrainian show "X-Factor". The scene of the main musical TV project of the country warmly welcomed the Russian artist with Armenian roots.
At the casting of the show (Season 7), Sevak performed his own composition "Don't Be Silent". The song conquered the chairmen of the jury and became an invitation to the main cast.
Sevak's mentor on the show was Anton Savlepov, another master of the Russian and Ukrainian stage, a former member of the legendary group Quest Pistols. Under his leadership, the artist performed the composition "Invincible" (from the repertoire of Artur Panayotov) and the author's song "Come Back".
In one of his many interviews, Sevak spoke about why he was so interested in the Ukrainian television show "X-Factor". The artist clarified that the main interest is the possibility of performing his own compositions.
As soon as he heard that it would be possible to sing author's songs on stage, the decision was made immediately. As it turned out, the thoughts were right, as Sevak became the winner of the show (Season 7).
In the same 2017, Sevak received the status of an authoritative and recognized musical artist. This state of affairs was facilitated by the decision to accept the artist as a jury member of the Your Voice 2017 project (Season 2).
Not only the participants wanted to see the singer as a member of the jury, but also the rest of the jury, even the listeners.
Shortly before the project, Sevak created his own musical group. The group performed at popular festivals, in clubs and at various events, performing songs by the artist and other popular authors. In addition to singing, Sevak worked on the creation of texts and music.
