The information that Sophie passed away on January 30, 2021 shocked fans. At the time of her death, she was only 34 years old. Cheerful, purposeful and incredibly talented - this is exactly how Sophie was remembered by her fans.

Childhood and youth

She was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Sophie spent her childhood and youth in this city. Very little is known about Sophie's childhood.

The girl's parents had nothing to do with creativity. However, this did not prevent them from listening to quality music. My father loved electro. Electronic tunes often sounded in his car. Sophie didn't stand a chance. She was captivated by the unusual sound. In one of her later interviews, the singer said:

“One day my father and I went to the store. Dad, as always, turned on the radio on the way. Now I can’t remember exactly what exactly sounded from the speakers. But, it was definitely electromusic. When we did it and came home, I stole the cassette from my dad…”.

She breathed music, so her parents decided to grant her wish. They gave their daughter a keyboard, and she began to create compositions on her own. At that time she was only 9 years old. She dreamed of leaving school and realizing herself as an electronic music producer. Of course, the parents did not support the girl, and she still had to get a secondary education.

In adolescence, she has already reached a more professional level. One day, Sophie locked herself in a room and said that she would not leave here until she completed work on the LP. Parents understood that after graduation, she would realize herself in the musical field, so they did not argue with her.

SOPHIE sound and style

Sophie mainly used Elektron Monomachine and Ableton Live to create tracks. The resulting sounds were like "latex, balloons, bubbles, metal, plastic, and stretchy materials."

Music critics about Sophie's tracks spoke like this:

"The singer's tracks have a surreal, artificial quality." It's all the fault of the singer's use of processed high-sounding female voices and "sugar synthesized textures".
