Stereo Total is a musical duo from Berlin. The musicians have created a range of "playful" music, which is a kind of mix of synthpop, electronica and pop music.
The history of the creation and composition of the Stereo Total team
The group was founded by two members - Françoise Cactus and Bretzel Goering. The cult group was formed in 1993. At various times, the team included:
- Angie Reed;
- San Reimo;
- Leslie Campbell.
Some music critics attribute the band's tracks to mod style and garage rock, which was especially popular in the 60s of the last century.
Some of the band's musical compositions are a selection of French pop music. It is important to note that Stereo Total is a multilingual group. Their repertoire is dominated by musical works in English, German and French.
Music by Stereo Total
The group's discography includes more than 10 full-length LPs. At various times, the musical works of the cult duet were used in advertising and tapes.
For example, the musical composition I love you, Ono from the My Melody LP was used by Sony in an advertisement for a Handycam camera. The track was also featured in an advertisement for Dior Addict perfume, but already in 2012. The track itself is a cover of I Love You, Oh No! from the LP Welcome Plastic by The Plastics. The cover version is a kind of name pun Yoko Ono.

Another work by the duo, L'Amour a trois, was skillfully used by Swedish marketers during the advertising of gadgets of the company "3". The musical work by Cannibale became the soundtrack of the video game Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX 4.
Presentation of the band's debut LP
In the mid-90s, the duo's debut LP premiered. It's about the Oh Ah record. Music critics described the album's tracks as "a mixture of garage rock, sloppy continental cocktail music and dirty electronics".
Until the end of the 90s, the musicians presented several more albums. The Jukebox Alarm and My Melody records were incredibly warmly received by the fans. During this period of time, the premiere of one of the most popular tracks of the team took place. We are talking about the composition Holiday Inn, which is still considered the most successful work of the musicians.
Further, the musicians focused their attention on Gallic grooves and casio-pop. At the beginning of the XNUMXs, the premiere of the collection Musique Automatique took place. Longplay was a great success with fans. In addition, music lovers from Japan and the United States of America are actively interested in the band's music. A year later, the band's discography was replenished with the disc Trésors cachés.
After the presentation of the studio album, Stereo Total toured a lot. Françoise Cactus during this period of time began writing a book, and Bretzel Goering released a solo longplay. Only in 2005 did the duo break the silence with the presentation of the album Do the Bambi. The record consisted of 19 tracks.

In 2007, the premiere of the LP Paris-Berlin took place. The collection was rather coolly accepted by the public. The fans wanted the musicians to return to their previous sound, but the duet was in no hurry to fulfill the whim of the "fans".
A few years later, the band's discography was replenished with another studio album. We are talking about the record Carte postale de Montréal. The record was also quite “smoothly” received by music lovers. The situation was corrected by the collection Baby Ouh!, which was presented in 2010. This was followed by a series of concerts and the release of the LP Cactus Versus Brezel.
Break in the work of Stereo Total
A silence followed for several years. Only in 2016 the musicians presented the collection Les Hormones. The record was produced by Françoise Cactus herself. Fans enjoyed the record's signature way of mixing: a teenage garage beat with the vague understanding that drum computers would be invented in thirty years. In general, everything is in the best traditions of the "old" and long-loved Stereo Total.
In 2019, the release of Ah! Quel Cinema!. Subsequently, this album became the last LP in the band's discography. On their twelfth album, the musicians turned to heavier topics. The duo's new album was warmly received by critics and devoted "fans".
The breakup of Stereo Total
On February 17, 2021, it became known that Françoise Cactus had died at the age of 56. The permanent leader of the group died of cancer. Thus, the Stereo Total group ceased its creative activity.
