Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso are the three members of the band. The active period of activity was from 2008 to the present. Dj Magazine ranked the group 10th in their Top 100 DJs of 2011. A year later, they almost managed to stay in the same position, but they were moved two positions down.

For a long time, the band was considered the main group among those who play progressive house. In mid-2012, the band members announced that they would not be making music together.

However, after a while, Axwell and Sebastian joined forces as the duo Axwell & Ignosso. Instead of a trio, the "Swedish mafia" retrained into a duet and began to create without the participation of Steve Angelo. This outcome pleased the "fans" of the group.

In 2018, the "mafia" got together again and made a program at the anniversary Ultra Music Festival. Interestingly, their performance was kept secret until X-day. The trio then announced their intention to do a world tour with old and new hits.

How did it all start with the Svidish House Mafia band?

Despite the fact that the official year of the creation of the group is considered to be 2008, the year before that the first official release was released. They became the single Get Dumb.

The musician Laidback Luke also participated in its creation. The single was not very popular. However, it made it to the music charts in some countries, such as the Netherlands.

2008 was the year dedicated to creating your own style and sound. Therefore, the first high-profile single was released only in 2009. Leave the World Behind hit the charts in his native Sweden. The single also featured Laidback Luke and featured Deborah Cox as the main vocalist.

After these two singles, major music labels became interested in the musicians. Polydor Records, which was a division of Universal Music Group, offered the guys a collaboration.

In 2010, the mafia became members of Polydor, and with it the Universal group. Only at that moment the musicians finally came out under the name Swedish House Mafia. The single One (2010) became popular not only in Sweden and Europe, but also on other continents.

New Frontiers Swedish House Mafia

The group became interested in the popular rap artist Pharell, who offered to make a remix for the single with his participation. The new single was also popular, the band got interested in a new audience and recorded songs with Tinie Tempah.

Miami 2 Ibiza became the leader of the European hit parades and various charts. In 2010, the first compilation album (a collection of already released singles) Untill One was released.

2011 was marked first by the release of the next single Save the World (Jon Martin became the main vocalist). Then came Antidote, recorded with Knife Party. The group did not consider it necessary to release albums, and their popularity was based on individual singles.

Before that, the successful track Greyhound was released (in May 2012). Then came another track with John Martin Don't You Worry Child.

Unfortunately, it can be called the last popular single of the group. He enjoyed great popularity in Europe, occupied a leading position in the charts and charts. After September 2012, the group gradually began to disappear.

End collaboration

Approximately two months later, the team has already announced its intention to cease activities. However, they planned to hold a farewell tour. Thus, after the announcement of the breakup, the group still worked for some time. 

A single with Martin was released, a farewell tour was held. In October 2012, the second compilation Untill Now was released and became the last in the history of the band.

Thus, Untill One and Untill Now were released two years apart. The first release was the debut, and the second - the final story of the group.

Swedish House Mafia concert films

During the short existence of the musicians managed to create documentaries. Films were shot in the format of filming concert programs and performances.

Svidish House Mafia has a very rich touring history, so footage from 250 concerts has been the basis of several films. The film Take One was filmed over two years and covered the entire period of the band's peak popularity.
