The discography of The Calling does not include many records, but those albums that the musicians managed to present will forever remain in the memory of music lovers.

The history and composition of The Calling

At the origins of the team are Alex Band (vocals) and Aaron Kamin (guitar). They began writing musical compositions in the mid-1990s.

Then they performed under the little-known name Generation Gap. The new band also included a drummer and a saxophonist. The musicians added a bit of jazz sound to the tracks.

The group enjoyed popularity, albeit insignificant, but soon the Generation Gap group broke up. Despite the collapse of the team, in the plans of Band and Kamin, the idea arose to create a new project. The musicians began performing as Next Door.

Alex and Aaron have revised their "musical" priorities. Now the musicians began to work on the band's repertoire, as well as the Band's voice. The vocalist began to develop a "signature" baritone. But the guys lacked PR and a smart producer. Independent "swimming" did not give the proper result.

Soon, the musicians began to leave demo tapes of new tracks in the mailbox of Ron Fair, an executive in the music business and the Band's neighbor on the Camino Palmero album. It was one of the most correct decisions of the duet.

Ron was impressed with the work of young musicians. The team quickly found a similar type of sound. The duo's early work was influenced by Matchbox Twenty, Third Eye Blind, Train and Fastball. In 1999, the musicians signed a contract with the RCA label.

In addition, the duo began performing as The Calling. The first problem the duo faced was the bad sound. The absence of musicians made itself felt.

Debut album presentation

Almost immediately after signing the contract, The Calling began working on their debut compilation. The duo recorded an album with studio musicians.

As the band matured, Sean Woolstenhulme of Lifehouse (guitar), Billy Mohler (bass) and Nate Wood (drums) joined The Calling.

This event happened in 2001. Since that time, we can say that the team has finally become full-fledged.

The presentation of the first album Camino Palmero took place in 2001. The main hit of the collection was the track Wherever You Will Go. The composition was performed in the first season of the series "Secrets of Smallville", in the episode "Metamorphoses". The collection was sold with a circulation of 5 million copies and received the status of "gold" in the United States of America.

A few years later, Woolstenhulme left the band. He was replaced by a new musician Dino Menegin. But in the same 2002, Mohler and Wood left the group.

In 2003, Mohler and Wood made their first commentary after leaving the band. The musicians accused Band, Kamin and the band's management of fraud and demanded their fee.

Mohler and Wood spoke of being promised a share of royalties and profits from their first tour. Band and Kamin gave an official response, stating that the musicians were not entitled to royalties from the tour, as this was not covered by the contract.

Presentation of the second studio album

In 2004, the band's discography was replenished with a new album. We are talking about the collection Two. The hits of the record were the tracks: Our Lives, Things Will Go My Way and Anything.

In support of the new collection, the musicians went on a big tour. The group's concerts were very popular and nothing boded trouble.

Breakup of The Calling

After a long and tiring tour in support of the new collection and without the support of the label, Band and Kamin began to develop in different directions. It soon became clear that the group broke up.

In 2005, Band and Kamin announced to fans that they had ceased their activities. They took a break. The musicians provided information about the breakup of the band after a farewell concert in Temecula (California). Interestingly, Alex has assembled a team of musicians, and they rarely give concerts under the creative name The Calling.
