The Lumineers are an American rock band founded in 2005. The group can be called a real phenomenon of modern experimental music.

The musical style of the Luminers
As the performers say, their first samples sounded far from ideal. These were cover versions of famous rock hits from the early 2000s. After a while, the musicians themselves considered that all these were very weak attempts to “break through” to the rock scene and decided to take up writing copyright songs.
With all this, no particular genre was initially chosen. The guys just took up writing songs in completely different styles - here and rock music, india and electronics.
A number of such experiments just allowed the artists to eventually come to their own style - folk. Now musicians do not need to follow trends and try to please some foreign audience, because their unique style is able to attract listeners from different continents.
How was the team created?
It was created by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Frates. The name was originally different - Free Beer. As mentioned earlier, the guys themselves were not serious about their work.
These were fun experiments with cover versions of famous hits, which soon got tired of novice musicians.
The new name Luminers was not invented by the musicians, but by the presenter who announced the group. The fact is that he made a mistake and assigned Wesley and Jeremiah the wrong name of one of the local groups. The guys liked it, and they decided to call themselves that.
The beginning of the recognition of the Luminers group
Beginning in 2005, the musicians worked hard for several years to gain recognition in New York. This is the band's hometown. However, the local public did not accept them, so in 2009 it was decided to leave the city for Colorado.
In the city of Denver, the group's path to worldwide recognition began. Here, the Onto Entertainment label took the musicians under its wing. Good resources for recording an album turned out to be concentrated here. In particular, the guys received funding, free studio hours and a sound producer from the label.
By the end of 2011, the first single Ho Hey was ready to be released. However, even before the official release, he appeared in the popular American TV series Heart of Dixie and received positive reviews from the public.
In early 2012, the song even got into the rotation of several radio stations. It was a good statement about myself before the release of the debut album. The release was more than successful.
He almost immediately hit the Billboard 200, and after a while he took the 2nd position there. The single Ho Hay continued to storm the US charts. The group has achieved significant success.
The Lumineers nominations
In the same 2012, the group was nominated for a Grammy Award in two categories at once: "Best New Artist" and "Best Genre Album".
The Grammy Award has widely revealed the work of the team. The group began to gradually receive worldwide recognition. Further creativity developed. A little later, the musicians were asked to compose the title song for the film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Part I".
Creative approach to creating an album
After the release of the first record, the musicians actively gave concerts and tours in the cities of the USA and Europe. Now they could collect stadiums. The next release took place in 2016.
Cleopatra is filled with life stories and real events. So, the track of the same name was recorded as a result of a conversation between Jeremiah Frates and a taxi driver. The musicians were so struck by his story that they decided to make a song based on it.
The album had a very creative and interesting promo - a short film that included several clips at once. In a single bundle, they all told the story of Cleopatra in stages.
This work of art was appreciated. The album also sold well in the United States and Europe and provided the band with the opportunity for new tours.
The band's third album
Two years later, in the fall of 2019, the third album "III" was released. Here the guys also decided to be creative. The number "3" here meant not only the numbering of the album, but also the number of parts in the track list.
The fact is that it is divided into three equal parts, each of which is one independent full-fledged fictional story.
The album was a significant success, and many critics (and the band members themselves) called it the best in the group's discography.
In the summer of 2019, the group went on a world tour, which was supposed to last until the summer of 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the final concerts had to be postponed.
The Lumineers today
Today, the band continues to actively work on new material, inspired by the success of the record "III". At concerts, the band performs in an expanded composition, inviting many musicians - keyboardists, drummers, guitarists, etc.
The live performances of the artists are distinguished by their deep atmosphere and the honed skills of each participating musician.
