Titiyo's early career

Titiyo Yambalu Felicia Jah, later known by her stage name Titiyo, was born on July 23, 1967. Music is in the artist's blood: her father Ahmadu was a famous drummer, and her half-sister Nene Cherry was a popular singer in her region.

Titiyo's career began precisely thanks to her sister. Nene lived in London from the age of 14, regularly recording songs at one of the local studios. On one of those days, Nene had the idea to involve her younger sister in the recording. Circumstances developed in a favorable way - thanks to Nene, Titiyo discovered the talent of a real singer in herself.

After discovering her abilities, Titiyo, without hesitation, began work on creating her own group. The singer performed in famous clubs in Stockholm, winning the hearts of listeners with her deep and strong vocal abilities. In parallel with her own performances, Titiyo worked as a backing vocalist for Army of Lovers and Jakob Hellman.

In 1989, grandiose changes took place in the life of the singer. It was at this time that Titiyo signed a contract with the well-known brand Telegram. Experienced sound engineers helped the Scandinavian girl in the release of her first album: the debut disc, released in 1990, took the honorable 3rd position in the top charts.

Later, the album, which the singer called her own name, was also released in America. US listeners immediately called Titillo "the swallow of the first wave of Swedish R'N'B". Music of this style "overwhelmed" the American market in the 1990s, giving the unknown girl a significant number of "fans".

Formative period

After the resounding success of her first album, Scandinavian singer Titijo took a long two-year hiatus. The girl did not waste time in vain, rethinking her life and work, drawing new perspectives and coming up with opportunities for personal growth.

The result of such mental and creative work was the song Never Let Me Go. A cover version by Aretha Franklin, performed by a star from Scandinavia, became the leader of the Swedish and world charts. This hit by Titiyo was part of the second album, called This is.

The third album, Extended, was released in 1987. Titiyo did some work on the mistakes, improving not only the quality of the vocals, but also the overall sound characteristics. The main banger of the record was the track Josefin Dean.

Song Titiyo, which played a key role in the life of the singer

The second turning point, which predetermined the fate of the further career of a girl from Scandinavia, happened already in the new millennium. In 2001, Titiyo released her most successful album, Come Along.

Apart from the singer herself, the most famous sound engineers and producers of that time worked on the disc. The single became a real world hit that won the hearts of listeners in Europe and the USA. The song of the same name to the album entered the list of leaders of the national charts in France, Germany, Switzerland and Portugal.

Thanks to the success of Come Along, singer Titiyo received an offer she couldn't refuse. The girl was offered to sign a contract from the music industry monster Warner Music.

Continuation of career

After the release of her most famous record, the singer Titiyo took a long three-year pause. As in the case of the debut album, the waiting period was filled with long reflection. The girl was aware of herself and her popularity, preparing to “break” national and international charts again.

In 2004, a double album was released, which included the best songs of Titiyo. Records Best of Titiyo and A Collection of Songs, in addition to old tracks, included new work. According to the results of evaluation and listening, the song Lovin' Out of Nothing took 17th position in the Swiss national charts.

This was followed by a long series of concerts, festivals and performances. The Scandinavian singer Titiyo, who performed under the logo of probably the most popular music label, toured her native regions and various countries of the world.

The result of fruitful collaboration was the song Longing for Lullabies, released on the records of Andreas and Titiyo.

Until 2008, Titiyo actively worked on shaping her own image, collaborating with popular artists.

The girl was noted on the records and guest verses of the Blacknuss group. And also participated in the creation of hits by Marit Bergman. The video clips for Titiyo were created by the team of Stakka Bo, an American singer and director who has worked with Beyonce, Madonna and others.
