When the detainee was asked what he was doing there, he said that he was offered several hundred dollars for participating in the protest. The detainee allegedly needed money, so he agreed to come to Kazakhstan. But when it was necessary to go to a protest action, he got scared and did not do it.
After the release of the video, many recognized the jazz musician in the “hired” man. According to acquaintances, Vikram bought a ticket to Kazakhstan back in 2021, as he planned to visit the country to perform for fans. He was supported by many well-known musicians, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan claimed that there was no well-known Kyrgyz artist in the video.
On January 10, it became known that the artist was released. He went home. Later, Vikram will say that he was not tortured, but he received injuries directly during the detention. Today his life is not in danger. Later, in an interview on January 10, 2022, he said: "I am proud to be the son of the Kyrgyz people." He thanked the rulers for their assistance in the situation.
