Childhood and youth of Viktor Tsoi

The future rock star was born on June 21, 1962 in the family of Valentina Guseva (Russian by birth) and Robert Tsoi (ethnic Korean). The boy's parents were far from creativity.

The head of the family, Robert Tsoi, served as an engineer, and his mother (a native of St. Petersburg) Valentina Vasilievna worked at a school as a physical education teacher.

As the parents noted, from early childhood, the son was interested in the brush and paints. Mom decided to support Tsoi Jr.'s interest in art, so she enrolled him in an art school. There he studied for only three years.

In high school, Choi was not very interested. Victor studied very poorly and could not please his parents with academic success. The teachers did not seem to notice the boy, so he attracted attention with defiant behavior.

The first guitar of Viktor Tsoi

No matter how strange it may sound, but in the 5th grade, Viktor Tsoi found his calling. Parents gave their son a guitar. The young man was so imbued with music that now the lessons were the last thing he worried about. As a teenager, he assembled his first team, Chamber No. 6.

The teenager's passion for music was so significant that he spent all the money on a 12-string guitar, which his parents left him for food when they went on vacation. Tsoi recalled how satisfied he left the store, holding a guitar in his hands. And only 3 rubles rang in his pocket, on which he needed to live for more than a week.

After graduating from school, Viktor Tsoi decided to continue his studies at the Serov Leningrad Art School. The guy dreamed of becoming a graphic designer. However, in the 2nd year, Victor was expelled for poor progress. All the time he spent playing the guitar, while the fine arts were already in the background.

After being expelled for some time, Victor worked at a factory. Then he got a job at the Art and Restoration Professional Lyceum No. 61. At the educational institution, he mastered the profession of "Wood Carver".

Despite the fact that Victor studied and worked, he never left the main goal of his life. Tsoi dreamed of a career as a musician. The young man was "slowed down" by several things - the lack of experience and connections, thanks to which he could declare himself.

The creative path of Viktor Tsoi

Everything changed in 1981. Then Viktor Tsoi, with the participation of Alexei Rybin and Oleg Valinsky, created the rock group Garin and the Hyperboloids. A few months later, the band changed its name. The trio began performing under the name "Kino".

In this composition, the musicians appeared on the site of the popular Leningrad rock club. The new group, with the assistance of Boris Grebenshchikov and the musicians of his Aquarium band, recorded their debut album 45.

The new creation has become in demand at the Leningrad apartment houses. In a relaxed atmosphere, music lovers communicated with new musicians. Even then, Viktor Tsoi stood out from the rest. He had a firm life position, which he was not going to change.

Soon, the discography of the Kino group was replenished with the second studio album, Head of Kamchatka. The record was named after the boiler room where Tsoi worked as a stoker.

The band recorded the second studio album in the mid-1980s with a new line-up. Instead of Rybin and Valinsky, the group included: guitarist Yuri Kasparyan, bassist Alexander Titov and drummer Gustav (Georgy Guryanov).

The musicians were productive, so they started working on the new album "Night". According to the "idea" of the participants, the tracks of the new disc were to become a new word in the genre of rock music. Work on the collection was delayed. So that the fans do not get bored, the musicians released the magnetic album "This is not love."

At the same time, in the Kino team, Alexander Titov was replaced as bassist by Igor Tikhomirov. In this composition, the group performed until the death of Viktor Tsoi.

The peak of the popularity of the Kino group

With the onset of 1986, the popularity of the group began to flourish.Cinema". The secret of the group was in the original for that time combination of fresh musical discoveries with Viktor Tsoi's life texts. The fact that the team "rested" precisely on the efforts of Tsoi is no secret to anyone. In the mid-1980s, the team's tracks sounded in almost every yard.

At the same time, the band's discography was replenished with the mentioned album "Night". The significance of the Kino group only increased. The team's records were bought up by fans from different parts of the USSR. The band's video clips were played on local television.

After the presentation of the collection "Blood Type" (in 1988), "film mania" "leaked" far beyond the Soviet Union. Viktor Tsoi and his team performed in France, Denmark and Italy. And the photos of the team even more often flashed on the covers of rating magazines. 

In 1989, the Kino group released their first professional album, A Star Called the Sun. Almost immediately after the presentation of the record, the musicians began recording a new album.

Each track of the album "A Star Called the Sun" became a real hit. This disc made Viktor Tsoi and the Kino team real idols. The song "Pack of Cigarettes" has already become a hit for each subsequent young generation of the states of the former USSR.

Tsoi's last concert took place in 1990 at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in the Russian capital. Before that, Victor, along with his team, gave concerts in the United States of America.

The eponymous disc "Kino" was the last creation of Viktor Tsoi. The musical compositions "Cuckoo" and "Watch Yourself" received special respect from music lovers. The presented tracks were like a pearl of the eponymous record.

The work of Viktor Tsoi turned the minds of many Soviet people. The rocker's songs were associated with change and change for the better. What is the track “I want change!” (in the original - "Change!").

Personal life of Viktor Tsoi

In his interviews, Viktor Tsoi said that before popularity, he had never been popular with the fairer sex. But since the creation of the Kino group, everything has changed.

Crowds of fans were on duty at the entrance of the musician. Soon Choi met "the one" at a party. Marianna (that was the name of his beloved) was three years older than the singer. For some time, lovers just went on dates, and then began to live together.

Victor proposed to Marianne. Soon the first-born was born in the family, who was named Alexander. In the future, Tsoi's son also became a musician. He managed to realize himself as a singer, even to form his own army of "fans" around him.

In 1987, while working on the filming of the film Assa, Victor met Natalya Razlogova, who served as an assistant director. Between the young people there was an affair that led to the destruction of the family.

Marianne and Victor are not officially divorced. After the musician's death, the widow took over the responsibility of publishing Tsoi's last recordings.

Death of Viktor Tsoi

On August 15, 1990, Viktor Tsoi passed away. The musician died in a car accident. He crashed in an accident on the 35th kilometer of the Latvian Sloka-Talsi highway, not far from the city of Tukums.

Victor returned from vacation. His car crashed into an Ikarus passenger bus. Remarkably, the bus driver was not injured. According to the official version, Choi fell asleep at the wheel.
