Biography of Yaki-Da members

Linda Schoenberg was born on July 18, 1976. Since childhood, she went to a music school, thanks to which, during the creation of the group, she was already a trained singer. In addition, the girl took lessons in playing several musical instruments.

Before the Yaki-Da group, she was the main performer in a team from Sweden, as well as in a number of other groups from the Scandinavian countries.

The date of birth of the second member of the pop group, Mary Knutsen-Green, is January 13, 1966. Prior to joining the team, she worked as a model.

During unemployment, a young girl received an allowance. Then she, as a secondary soloist, went on a tour of the Scandinavian countries with performer Bill Wymann.

She is the author of two compositions for the group Yaki-Da. The girl successfully married and today lives with her husband in New York.

Creation of a pop group

The girls owe their reunion in the popular band to the famous Swedish producer Jonas Berggren. By the way, it was he who produced the incredibly famous band Ace of Base.

Jonas did not think about the name for a long time - in fact, translated from Swedish means “Let's be healthy!”. At that time, in the city of Gothenburg, in which, in fact, the team was created, the nightclub Yaki-Da worked.

True, because of this, under the original name, the girls performed only in Sweden. That was the condition of the club owners. While touring in other countries, she was renamed the group YD.

Further career of the group

The songs for the first record of the pop group were written by producer Jonas Berggren himself. The album was given the name Pride. It has become incredibly popular both in Sweden and in Eastern Europe.

According to the video clip for the song on YouTube, the most popular pop group was in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

By the way, she enjoyed no less success among the youth of South Korea. There, the album was sold out by 400 thousand lovers of high-quality dance music.

A composition from the Pride album called Show Me Love in 2002 was covered by the Ace of Base band. However, the most popular hit from the first record of Yaki-Da was the song I Saw You Dancing.

The second album of the pop group A Small Step For Love did not become as popular as the first record. It is for this reason that the circulation of the disc released in European countries was very limited.

Then the popular dance group released two singles, which it was decided to name, as well as two songs from the A Small Step Fo Love record - If Only The Word and I Believe.

The collapse of the group and the further life of the participants

Limited-edition sales and a production run by Ace of Base led to the breakup of the duo of two charming girls. It happened in 2000.

Then each of the members of the Swedish team Yaki-Da went their own way.

Mary Knutsen-Green rebuilt her career and briefly worked as a model. Linda Schoenberg went into "free swimming" and worked in different companies in various positions.

In 2015 (15 years after the collapse of the pop group), the girls decided to reunite in order to take part in the Moscow music festival "Legends of Retro FM".

Thanks to the incredibly successful performance in Moscow, the girls decided to sometimes get together to tour various retro festivals.
