The line-up and history of Aerosmith

Aerosmith was founded in 1970 in Boston, so there is also another name for it - "The Bad Boys from Boston". But Stephen Tallarico (aka Steve Tyler) and Joe Perry met much earlier in Sunapee. Steve Tyler at that time already performed with the Chain Reaction group, which he himself had assembled and managed to release several singles. Joe Perry, along with friend Tom Hamilton, played in the Jam Band.

The genre preferences of the musicians coincided: it was hard rock, and glam rock, and rock and roll, and Tyler, at the request of Parry, assembled a new team, which included: Steve Tyler, Joe Parry, Joey Kramer, Ray Tabano. This was the first line-up of AEROSMITH. Of course, over the time span of 40 years, the composition of the group has changed several times, and the current line-up of the group consists of musicians:

Joe Perry - guitar, backing vocals (1970-1979, 1984-present)

Tom Hamilton - bass guitar, backing vocals (1970-present)

Joey Kramer - drums, backing vocals (1970-present)

AEROSMITH Band (1974)

AEROSMITH (then called "The Hookers") gave their first concert at Nipmuc Regional High School, and in general, the group initially performed only in bars and schools, earning only $ 200 per evening. USA.

The word "AEROSMITH" was invented by Kramer, although it is said that this was his nickname. Then the group moved to Boston, but still copied Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones. Only after a certain time did the Aerosmith group manage to form their own recognizable style.

The guys performed at the Max' Kansas City club in 1971, and Clive Davis (President of Columbia Records) rested in the same club. He noticed them, promised to make them stars and fulfilled his promise.

But the musicians themselves could not withstand the burden of wealth and fame - drugs and alcohol became an integral accompaniment of musicians on tour and at home, but at the same time, the number of fans multiplied exponentially.

In 1978 Robert Stigwood, producer of Lost, Jesus Christ Superstar and Grease, invited the guys from AEROSMITH to star in a production of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Night Club Band.

In 1979, Joe Perry left the group and started the Joe Perry Project. His place in the group was taken by Jimmy Crespo.

A year later, Brad Whitford left. Together with Derek St. Holmes of Ted Nugent, Brad Whitford created the Whitford - St. Holmes Band. His place in the group was taken by Rick Dufay.

Release of the album “Rock In A Hard Place”

With this line-up, AEROSMITH releases the album "Rock In A Hard Place". However, it soon became clear that no one needed such changes. The group was made successful again by manager Tim Collins, who accompanied the Joe Perry project, and later in February 1984, he made friends with former colleagues at a show in Boston. Collins insisted that the musicians go through drug rehabilitation. Also, at his suggestion, the band signed a contract with producer John Kalodner and Geffen Records.

Kalodner didn't like AEROSMITH's Get a Grip (1993) and forced the musicians to re-record it, after which the album took 1st place on the Billboard charts and went 6x platinum. Also, John Kalodner can be seen in the video clips for the songs "Blind Man", "Let the Music Do the Talking", "The Other Side". In the clip “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)”, the producer even played the bride due to his addiction to white clothes.

Going forward, AEROSMITH will be produced by guitar-driver Tad Templeman, ballad-loving Bruce Fairbairn, and Glen Ballard, who will require the musicians to remake half of the Nine Lives album. Liv Tyler, the daughter of Steve Tyler, will appear in the video clips.

The Aerosmith group will collect many awards and titles, the musicians will try their hand at acting. Steve Tyler will undergo ligament surgeries and also surgery on his leg after a microphone stand fell, Joey Kramer narrowly escapes death in a car crash, Tom Hamilton recovers from throat cancer, and Joe Perry suffers a concussion after being hit by a cameraman at a concert will crash.

In 2000, Slash, a member of the Guns'n'Roses group, will give Joe Parry his own guitar in honor of the 50th anniversary, which Joe Parry pawned in the 70s to raise money, and Hudson bought this instrument in 1990- m year. In March 2001, AEROSMITH was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Composition "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"

Creativity of the AEROSMITH group can be considered conceptual and very innovative: the material is used in computer games, compositions become soundtracks for films.

That's how the track "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" became the soundtrack to the blockbuster "Armageddon". The music video for this hit featured some of the most expensive suits in music video history, 52 suits worth $2,5 million each.

The discography of AEROSMITH contains 15 full-length studio albums, as well as more than a dozen recordings and collections of live performances.

Aerosmith early work

AEROSMITH's first studio album, titled "AEROSMITH" by its own name, features the band's iconic song "Dream On".

After a while, rapper Eminem used an excerpt from this composition in his work. In 1988, Guns'n'Roses covered the song "Mama Kin" on their album "G N'R Lies".

The album “Get Your Wings” brought recognition to the group: the guys were already beginning to be distinguished from the Mick Jagger group, and Steve Tyler himself, thanks to his tinned throat and snake-like frills on stage, gained fame as a vocal acrobat.

One of the best is the album “Toys in the Attic”, which hit the top ten of the Billboard 200 and is considered today a classic of hard rock. The composition from this album “Sweet Emotion” was released as a separate single, took 11th place in the Billboard 200 hit parade and sold 6 million copies.

Released in 1976, the Rocks album went platinum, but the Live! Bootleg” and “Draw the Line” sold well, but the tour failed in the UK, the musicians were credited with borrowing from the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, and, according to critics, the musicians were drugged.

A new round in creativity

The composition "Done With Mirrors" (1985) showed that the group had overcome previous problems and were ready to dive into the mainstream. A recorded collaboration with the rappers from Run-DMC in the form of a remix of the song "Walk This Way" provided the band AEROSMITH with a return to the top of the charts and a new influx of fans.

The album "Permanent Vacation" with a cover version of the Beatles song "I'm Down" sold 5 million copies. According to the British edition of Classic Rock, this album is included in the "Top 100 Rock Albums of All Time". The same list included the 10th studio album "Pump", which sold 6 million copies.

The songs "Angel" and "Rag Doll" are a tangible competition to Bon Jovi in the performance of ballads. The hits “Love In An Elevator” and “Janie's Got A Gun” contain elements of pop music and orchestration.

Thanks to the video clips “Crazy”, “Cryin'”, “Amazing”, Liv Tyler launched her career as an actress, and the album “Get A Grip” itself became 7x platinum. The songs were recorded by Lenny Kravitz and Desmon Child. The album “Just Push Play” was self-produced by Joe Parry and Steve Tyler.

Aerosmith today

In 2017, Joe Perry announced that the AEROSMITH group plans to give performances until at least 2020, Tom Hamilton supported him, saying that the band has something to please the fans. Joey Kramer doubted that, they say, health already allows. to which Brad Whitford stated that "it's time to put up the final labels".
