Anyone who was fond of the American group of the 1990s, the Spice Girls, can draw a parallel with the Russian counterpart, the Brilliant group.
For more than two decades, these spectacular girls have been obligatory guests of all popular concerts and "parties" in Russia and neighboring countries. All the girls of the country who owned the plasticity of the body and knew at least a little about music dreamed of working in this group. According to music critics, the group has been the sexiest project on the Russian stage for a very long time.
The history of the creation of the group "Brilliant"
In 1995, the famous Andrei Grozny and Andrei Shlykov decided to create a new project for show business - a group with a girlish line-up. The men were not mistaken - the new group quickly “took off” to the star Olympus and became mega-popular in the shortest possible time.
The first part of the team included three young artists: Olga Orlova, Polina Iodias and Varvara Koroleva. A year later, the band released their first studio album.
The songs of the group "Brilliant" sounded on all radio and television channels of the country and occupied a leading position. But with such a composition, the girls did not sing for long. Koroleva returned to big sport (before participating in the project, she was a professional athlete and was engaged in rock climbing).
The artist was replaced by a new singer - Ira Lukyanova. The popular singer also managed to work in the group Jeanne Friske. But initially she was invited to the role of artistic director of the "Brilliant" group. Since 1996, she has been a full member of the musical group.
Two years later, Ksenia Novikova came to the group to replace Polina Iodias. And then the composition was already formed, which critics and viewers called "gold" - Olga Orlova, Zhanna Friske, Irina Lukyanova, Ksenia Novikova.
The activities of the "Brilliant" group in the early 2000s
Until the early 2000s, with such a line-up, the girls collected the largest concert halls throughout the country. Their popularity, like fees, increased every day. The beautiful soloists bathed in fame and attention of fans.
The next two albums "White Snow" and "About Love" were released with the group's most popular songs. In early 2001, Olga Orlova suddenly left the team. The producers did not forgive the girl for hiding her pregnancy from them.
Under the agreement, the soloist did not have the right to start a serious relationship, especially to become pregnant. From a quartet, the group turned into a trio for a whole year. Then the producers took on another singer - Yulia Kovalchuk. The popular songs “Over the Four Seas”, “And I kept flying”, etc. were released. In early 2003, Irina Lukyanova left the group “Brilliant”, preferring a quiet family life to tours. She was replaced by a figure skater Anna Semenovich. Millions of fans admired her voice, as well as lovely forms.
The new song of this composition "Orange Paradise" broke all records in terms of popularity. In 2004, having decided to start a solo career, Zhanna Friske, beloved by everyone, left the Brilliant group. And already in the "New Year's Concert" Nadezhda Ruchka performed instead of her, who became a long-liver of the team.
The group recorded another hit together with the Turkish singer Arash "Oriental Tales". The work came out scandalous due to the indignation of representatives of the Islamic religion, who considered the video indecent. But, fortunately, everything was settled after a call from critics not to implicate faith in pop culture.
Subsequent personnel changes in the group
Since 2004, the composition of the group began to change frequently. And this did not affect her popularity in the best way. The girls did not have time to get used to each other and completely "sing". Internal disagreements began between the participants and their leadership.
In 2007, in just 5 months, three people left the team at once: Anna Semenovich, Ksenia Novikova and Yulia Kovalchuk. New members Natalya Asmolova, Natalya Friske and Nastya Osipova also did not stay long.
According to the results of the casting, which was carried out jointly with LOVE Radio in 2008, Anna Dubovitskaya and Nadezhda Kondratieva got into the group. She worked for only one year in the Brilliant group of Yuliana Lukasheva. She managed to star only in the video "You know, dear", and also with her participation the album "Odnoklassniki" was released.
Soon the girl said goodbye to the project, simply writing a letter of resignation. Anna Dubovitskaya left the project in 2011. Anastasia Osipova left the Brilliant group in 2015, she was offered to become the face of a cosmetic brand. During the existence of the project, the singers left and returned, gave birth to children, got married, terminated contracts. But the group "Brilliant", as before, continued to be at the peak of popularity, delighting the audience with new videos and songs.
Music and collaborations
Despite the huge popularity, it could not do without scandals and harsh criticism of both the participants themselves and their producers. There were a lot of taunts about the appearance of the girls, their costumes, explicit dances, lyrics, etc. But the participants frankly ignored the negative and achieved their goal - millions of listeners.
Only the best were allowed to work with the "Brilliant" group. The arrangement of some songs was entrusted to the popular musician Alexei Ryzhov, who performed with the Disco Crash group. The shooting of clips was entrusted to the most creative directors of the country - Philip Yankovsky and Roman Prygunov.
Lyrics and music for them were also composed by well-known authors and composers. The famous track "And I kept flying" became the soundtrack to the cult film "Night Watch". To draw even more attention to the work of the group, the producers decided to duplicate the two most popular albums "About Love" and "Over the Four Seas", releasing a limited number of gift copies.
Since 2015, the group has included four members: Silvia Zolotova, Kristina Illarionova, Nadezhda Ruchka, Maria Berezhnaya.

Almost all the members left the group, dreaming of a solo career, thanks to which they can enjoy even greater popularity. But it turned out to achieve significant success only Zhanna Friske. But other girls also found themselves. For example, Ksenia Novikova is involved in charity work, Olga Orlova is a popular TV presenter, Nastya Osipova and Nadya Ruchka are happy mothers and beloved wives.
With its current composition, the group continues to tour actively and participates in all social events.
