New York-based band Brass Against operate in a fairly competitive Youtube cover field. It is worth recognizing that today they are definitely in the “top”. And the scandal that broke out around Sofia Urista (the vocalist of the group) is only a warming up of interest in the team.

History of creation and composition of Brass Against

For the first time about the team became known in 2017. Cover band musicians addressed music lovers and fans with a speech:

“At this politically difficult time, it is time to speak out against this ‘machine’. The guys and I really want the music that we give you to sound inspiring and resonate with the emotions of people, prompting them to action ... ".

The group came together to protest against the political climate in the world. Despite the fact that the musicians create covers, the music they perform sounds original and very original. In the musical arrangement of the band, RATM compositions sound especially cool.

Recall that Rage Against the Machine is a band that was popular for its extreme left political views. The artists vehemently criticized the American government, as well as imperialism, capitalism, globalization, wars. Often, musicians' performances were accompanied by the burning of the US flag.

Other clear favorites of the band include progressive metal from Tool. To be imbued with the performance of the "cover artists" you should definitely listen to the work of The Pot. The video for the track gained several million views and an unrealistic number of positive comments.

Musicians prefer songs from the 90s. According to the artists, these tracks are saturated with "revolution, freedom of speech, positive aggression."

Brad Hammonds, leader of Brass Against, was inspired to return to protest music after Donald Trump took over as President of America. He had long nurtured the idea of "putting together" a protest brass band. This is probably why the guys create most of the covers for the songs of Rage Against the Machine.

The composition of the team has changed several times, but today the group is associated with such members as Mariel Bildsten, Mazz Swift, Andrew Gutauskas, Sofia Urista.

The creative path of Brass Against

In 2018, the guys expanded their discography with Brass Against. They have released an impressive number of covers of the tracks of world-famous rock stars. The team's covers perfectly "fly" into the ears of music lovers. During this time, they have acquired an impressive number of fans. In 2019, the compilation album Brass Against II premiered.

Brass Against II was "stuffed" with the best tracks from the repertoire of Rage Against The Machine, Tool and Audioslave. Fans were especially excited to hear the Rage Against The Machine songs "No Shelter", "Maggie's Farm" and "Know Your Enemy", as well as Audioslave's "Show Me How To Live" and "Gasoline". In support of the album, the guys held a series of grandiose concerts.

On April 10, 2020, the band made their debut with their own music. Actually, then it was an acquaintance with a new vocalist - Sofia Urista.

The EP includes 3 original songs. The self-titled EP includes songs such as Pull The Trigger and Blood On The Other. Despite the fact that these were not covers, the influences remained the same.

But, this did not upset, but rather delighted the fans. The signature quality from Rage Against the Machine, the viscous guitar sound and the charming voice of the vocalist did their job. The work was appreciated by "fans" and music critics.

Scandal involving Brass Against

In mid-November 2021, the band's performance at the Welcome to Rockville festival was overshadowed by an unpleasant scandal. More on that below.

Sofia Urista urinated on the "fan" right on the stage. The artist herself called the young man to the stage, and then asked him to take a horizontal position and lie on his back. After that, the performer took off her pants and began to relieve herself directly on the face of a fan.

Sophia was not stopped by the fact that during this strange "performance" she performed the song "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine. After that, Urista started spitting on the stage. Videos depicting this incomprehensible process have hit the social networks.

Reference: Performance is a form of contemporary art, a genre of theatrical and artistic performance, in which works constitute the actions of an artist or group in a certain place and time.

By the way, the guy who turned out to be an unwitting participant in this story was not embarrassed by the behavior of the artist. After being pissed, he got up and started jumping. Thus, he decided to demonstrate his joy.

The members of the team also did not differ in quick wit. The guys were not alerted by anything and did not shock. During the performance that Urista started, they continued to play musical instruments.

Fan reaction to Brass Egeinst incident

Not everyone liked this behavior of the artist. The very next day, a post appeared on the Brass Against page stating that this would not happen again. But, despite this, the team’s reputation is “soaked”, and whether they will roll back the tour scheduled for 2022 is not known.

Netizens did not appreciate Urista's act, and frankly began to "hate" the artist. “They will have more fans than they can imagine. It's Kardashian level", "Well, that's one way to talk about your group", "The fountain is powerful like Victoria Falls", "Now urinating on people is a VIP experience?".

Some began to unsubscribe in droves from official pages on social networks, and even encouraged other followers to do so. But, most of the "fans" still "pardoned" Sofia, because she swore an oath that this would not happen again.

Sophia also responded to angry comments:

“I love my family, band and fans more than anything. I know that some were offended or offended by what I did. I apologize and I want them to know that I didn't mean to hurt them."
