The band currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Keane, drummer Matt Nichols and keyboardist Jordan Fish.

They are signed to RCA Records worldwide and to Columbia Records exclusively in the United States.

The style of their early work, including their debut album Count Your Blessings, was mostly described as deathcore, but they began to adopt a more eclectic style (metalcore) on subsequent albums.

In addition, their last two albums That's the Spirit and Amo marked a shift in their sound towards less aggressive rock styles, and even closer to pop rock.

Bring Me the Horizon's first recordings and tour

Bring Me the Horizon were the founders of different musical traditions in metal and rock. Matt Nicholls and Oliver Sykes shared an interest in American metalcore such as Norma Jean and Skycamefalling and attended local hardcore punk shows.

They later met Lee Malia who talked to them about thrash metal and melodic death metal bands like Metallica and At the Gates.

Bring Me the Horizon officially formed in March 2004 when the members were between 15 and 17 years old. Curtis Ward, who also lived in the Rotherham area, joined Sykes, Malia and Nichols.

Bassist Matt Keane, who was in another local band, later joined the band and the lineup was completed.

The history of the band name Bring Me the Horizon

Their name was taken from a line in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl where Captain Jack Sparrow said "Now, bring me that horizon!".

Within months of their formation, Bring Me the Horizon created the Bedroom Sessions demo album. She followed this up with her first EP, This Is The Edge of Seat, in September 2008 on local UK label Thirty Days of Night Records. BMTH was the first band from this label.

British label Visible Noise noticed the band after the release of their EP. She signed on to four of their albums, in addition to re-release an EP in January 2005.

The re-release garnered considerable attention from the band, eventually reaching No. 41 in the UK charts.

The band were later awarded Best British Newcomer at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards ceremony. The band's first tour was in support of The Red Chord in the United Kingdom.

Alcohol consumption fueled their live performances in their early history. There were times when the band got so drunk that they threw up on stage, and on one occasion their equipment was even damaged.

ALBUM + TOO MUCH ALCOHOL

The band released their debut album Count Your Blessings in October 2006 in the UK and August 2007 in the United States. They rented a house in the country to write songs.

According to the artists, this helped to disconnect from everything and completely immerse themselves in the process. They then recorded the album in the city of Birmingham, a process that was infamous for their excessive and dangerous drinking.

Bring Me the Horizon recorded their second studio album Suicide Season in Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström. He was unimpressed with their first album and was initially absent from the recording sessions.

But later, when Nordström heard the new sound they were experimenting with during the recording, he became very involved in their recording. Thanks to the September is Suicide Season promotional message in the weeks leading up to the release of the record, this album became a success.

MUSICIAN HEARS MUSIC NOT THROUGH EARS

During the Taste of Chaos tour in March of that year, guitarist Curtis Ward left the band. His relationship with the group deteriorated as his stage performances were poor.

He insulted the audience during the Taste of Chaos tour and did not contribute enough to the writing of the Suicide Season album. Another reason for his departure was problems with his ears. The guys began to notice that he began to hear worse.

Later, Ward admitted that he was born deaf in one ear, and then during the concerts it became even worse, and he could no longer sleep properly at night. Ward offered to perform the remaining tour dates, but the band declined. They asked their guitar tech, Dean Rowbotham, to fill in for the remaining performances.

Lee Malia noted that Ward's departure helped improve everyone's mood as it was very negative. But already in 2016, it was announced that Ward had rejoined the band.

In November 2009, Bring Me the Horizon released a remixed version of Suicide Season titled Suicide Season: Cut Up!. Musically, the album embraced many genres including: electronica, drum and bass, hip hop and dubstep. The record's dubstep style was recognized in the Tek-One and Skrillex tracks, while hip-hop elements are found in Travis McCoy's Chelsea Smile remix.

THIRD AND FOURTH BMTH ALBUM

The band's third album and the first with new rhythm guitarist Jona Weinhofen There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret.

It was released on October 4, 2010 and debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, at number 13 on the UK Albums Chart, and at number 1 on the Australian Chart.

The UK Rock Chart and the UK Indie Chart also took notice of the band. Despite reaching number 1 in Australia, the album's sales were the lowest in ARIA chart history.

December 29, 2011 ended with the announcement of The Chill Out Sessions, a collaborative effort with British DJ Draper. Draper first released an "officially sanctioned" remix of Blessed with a Curse in May 2011.

The EP was originally supposed to be released just in time for the New Year and would be available for download and purchase through the band's Bring Me the Horizon website, but the EP's release was canceled due to "current management and label."

After a hectic touring schedule, Bring Me the Horizon finished promoting their third album in late 2011. The musicians returned to the UK for a break and began work on their next album.

Like their previous two albums, they wrote their fourth album in seclusion to stay focused. This time they drove to a house in the Lake District.

In July, the band began posting images of their "We're in a Top Secret Studio Location" recordings. She revealed that they are working with producer Terry Date to record and produce the album. On July 30, the band announced that they had left their label and signed with RCA Records, which will release their fourth album in 2013.

In late October, it was announced that the fourth album would be called Sempiternal, with a pre-release in early 2013. On November 22, the band released the collaborative album Draper The Chill Out Sessions.

On January 4, 2013, Bring Me the Horizon released their first single, Sempiternal Shadow Moses. Due to increased popularity, they decided to release the music video for the song a week earlier than planned. In January, the band also experienced lineup changes. It started earlier this month when Jordan Fish, Worship's keyboardist, was announced as a full member.

Changes in the composition of the group

Then at the end of the month, Jon Weinhofen left the band. Although the band denied rumors that Fisch had replaced Weinhofen, reviewers said that replacing the guitarist with a keyboardist suited their style better. The long-awaited fourth album was released on March 1, 2013.

Later in 2014, the band released two new tracks, Drown on October 21 as a standalone single, and Don't Look Down on October 29 as part of a repackaged CD.

In early July, the band released a short video where the words that's the spirit could be heard in reverse. On July 13, 2015, a promotional single, Happy Song, was released on the band's Vevo page, and on July 21, 2015, Sykes announced that the album was titled That's the spirit.

This album was released on September 11, 2015 to critical acclaim, leading to several music videos including: Drown, Throne, True Friends, Follow You, Avalanche, Oh No.

ORCHESTRA + ROCK GROUP + MYSTERY

On April 22, 2016, the band played a live concert with an orchestra conducted by Simon Dobson at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It was the first concert that a rock band performed with a live orchestra.

The performance was recorded and the live album Live from the Royal Albert Hall was released on CD, DVD and vinyl on December 2, 2016 through crowdfunding platform Pledge Music, with all proceeds donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

In August 2018, cryptic posters appeared in major cities around the world saying do you wanna start a cult with me?. The mainstream media attributed posters to the group only because they used the hexagram logo previously used by the group.

During this time, they did not acknowledge their involvement in the campaign publicly. Each poster featured a unique phone number and website address. The website showed a brief message An Invitation To Salvation which had the date August 21, 2018.

The phone lines put the fans on hold with long, varied audio messages that changed frequently. Some of these messages reportedly ended with a distorted audio clip, which was supposed to be the band's new "chip" in the music.

On August 21, the group released the single Mantra. The next day, the band announced their new album, Amo, which was released on January 11, 2019 along with a new set of tour dates called the First Love World Tour. On October 21, the band released their second single Wonderful Life featuring Dani Filth along with the track listing for Amo.

On the same day, the band announced that the album had been shelved and was now set for January 25, 2019. On January 3, 2019, the group released their third single Medicine and its accompanying music video.

The Bring Me The Horizon Collective Today

In 2020, the musicians pleased with the release of a mini-disc. The collection was called Post Human: Survival Horror. Sykes said the songs were written to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
