Bandit Style Wedge Bandit

Clean Bandit is an electronic, classic crossover, electropop and dance-pop group. The group combines electronic music with classical works by composers such as Mozart and Shostakovich. This is the first group that came up with such a duo of musical style.

Musical career of Clean Bandit

The band members met in 2008 when they were all attending Jesus College at the University of Cambridge. The name of the group Clean Bandit comes from a Russian phrase and means something like "incorrigible scoundrel".

In December 2012, the band released their first single titled "A+E" which peaked at number 100 on the UK charts.

The single was also the first release of New Eyes' debut album. With this album, Clean Bandit achieved their first notable success and was able to reach number 3 in the UK charts.

The group gained its biggest popularity in 2013 with the release of the single Rather Be. The song was at number one on the UK charts for four weeks and also helped the band become more popular overseas.

The musicians also managed to win a Grammy Award for the song. Since 2015, the band has released various singles that were supposed to be part of a new album.

On May 27, 2016, Clean Bandit released their first single, Tears, featuring 2015 The X Factor winner Louise Johnson. The song peaked at number 5 on the singles chart a week after they performed it on the British television show Got Talent.

Group description

The Clean Bandit organized a successful evening dance event with famous guest musicians in Cambridge at the National Railway Disco.

Despite offers from Warner Music and Mercury Records, the band decided to release their own releases, including videos, and formed their own company, Incredible Industries.

In October 2010, the musicians published The House of Mozart. Stations such as BBC Radio 1 and Channel 4 did not air their songs.

The musical "breakthrough" occurred only at the end of 2012 - at that time the title song had its first commercial success and took 1st position in the iTunes electronic charts. With a single release of The House of Mozart in April 2013, the band reached the top 20 in the UK charts.

In February 2014, the single "Rather Be" took the 1st position in the British, German and Austrian charts. The vocals were performed by Jess Glynn, with actress Haruka Abe taking the lead role in the music video. The song also placed well on other European hit lists.

In England, the song won two Ivor Novello awards for "Best Song of the Year" and "Best Contemporary Song". They also received a Grammy Award in the Dance category.
