Delain is a popular Dutch metal band. The team took its name from Stephen King's book Eyes of the Dragon. In just a few years, they managed to show who is No. 1 in the arena of heavy music. The musicians were nominated for MTV Europe Music Awards.
Subsequently, they released several worthy LPs, and also performed on the same stage with cult bands.
History of creation and composition of the group
At the origins of the team is a certain Martijn Westerholt. It all started with the fact that he was forced to leave the group Within Temptation, because he fell ill with a viral infectious disease. When health was fully restored, Martijn, gaining strength, decided to "put together" his own project. This event happened at the beginning of 2002.
After that, he recorded several demos and sent them to musicians who, in his opinion, could be a good part of his brainchild. In addition, he also sent recordings to a famous sound engineer named Stefan Helleblad.
Soon the new team was joined by:

- Liv Kristin;
- Sharon den Adel;
- Arien van Wesenbeek;
- Marco Hietala;
- Gus Akens.
As it should be in almost any group, the composition has changed several times. The participants who left the team complained that the founder of the project was building a kind of barrier, and this made it very difficult to establish harmonious relations.
Today, the work of the group is unimaginable without Charlotte Wesseles, Timo Somersaa, Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oye, Martijn Westerholt and Joy Marina de Boer. Fans at concerts are in no hurry to shout out such complex and confusing names of the band members. Much more important is what the team does on stage.
The band's performances are absolute mincemeat. They do not skimp on the show, so each concert is as enchanting and unusual as possible.
The creative path and music of the Delain band
At the beginning of their creative journey, the musicians were content with performances at the fest and warming up with popular stars. Everything changed in 2006. It was then that the team presented their debut album, which was called Lucidity. The album topped the Alternative Music Chart. About the team started talking in a different way.
On the wave of popularity, the guys will present several new singles. We are talking about the compositions See Me in Shadow, Shattered, Frozen and The Gathering. Video clips were released for some of the tracks. The works were warmly received not only by fans, but also by music critics.
In support of new works, the musicians went on a tour of their native Holland. Despite being very busy, they managed to record a couple of new compositions. The songs Start Swimming and Stay Forever were presented to fans right at one of the band's concerts.
In 2009, the presented tracks, together with the song I'm Reach You performed live on the air of the national project, entered the team's second LP. The musicians simply called the new studio album April Rain. He took the honorable first place in the Dutch Alternative Top 3. This work was presented at numerous performances of the band.
Martijn Westerholt, who observed what emotions the band's fans experience during the band's live performance, decided to put an end to remote recordings. He released his debut co-rehearsed single. Soon the group's discography was replenished with the third studio album We Are the Others. Like the band's previous works, the album evoked the most pleasant emotions among the "fans".
After that, the guys performed at several more musical events and fests. Soon there was information about the release of a new collection. The musicians called their new work Interlude. The band went on tour to support the record. Then they replenished the discography with the album The Human Contradiction, going on a joint tour with the band Kamelot.
Delain in the present time period
The team was at the top of popularity. They were welcomed everywhere like family. This support had a positive impact on the performance of all members of the group. On the wave of popularity, the musicians present the EP Lunar Prelude and the full-length compilation Moonbathers.
In 2019, the group's discography was replenished with a mini-album. We are talking about the collection Hunter's Moon. Then it became known that a full-fledged LP will be released in a year.
The musicians did not let down the expectations of the fans, and in 2020 the presentation of the Apocalypse & Chill collection took place. The record explores the themes of impending doom and human indifference. This is one of the most daring works of the team.
