The band is best known for their cover versions of I Can't Stand The Rain by Ann Peebles and Neil Sedaka's One Way Ticket, both of which were big hits in the late 1970s.

Eruption's early career

When the band first formed, it was originally called Silent Eruption.

The team consisted of:

  • Brothers Greg Perrino, who played guitar, and Morgan Perrino, who specialized in bass.
  • Jerry Williams on keyboards, Eric Kingsley on percussion.
  • Lindela Leslie - vocals

After the release of their first single, Let Me Take You Back In Time, success quickly began to wane. As a result, vocalist Lindel Leslie left the band.

Soon the group made a tour of Germany, where they were noticed by the producer of the German vocal group Boney M. Frank Farian.

Further, Farian introduced the group to the Hansa Records label, with which they signed a contract. Soon after, the band went on tour with Boney M., which led to success.

Iraption group career

After the successful song Party, Party, their cover version of I Can't Stand The Rain became a hit. It peaked at number 5 on the UK chart and number 18 on the US Hot 100.

These singles were included on their first album, which was released in December 1977. It was followed by their second album Stop, which was released at the end of 1978.

One Way Ticket (a cover version of a Neil Sedaka song written by Jack Keller and Hank Hunter) peaked at number 9 in the UK charts.

Despite this success, vocalist Precious Wilson left the band. In 1979, she pursued a solo career where she released several singles.

She was replaced by singer Kim Davis. With her participation, the third single from the top 10 Go Johnie Go was recorded. Unfortunately, shortly after joining, Davis experienced a brain hemorrhage. According to sources, it was caused by a car accident.

Despite this, the group continued to work, and soon the singer Jane Yochen joined them. This was followed by the song Runaway Del Shannon. It was released in December 1980, reaching number 21 on the German charts.

Decline in group success

Then the success began to subside, probably due to the departure of Precious Wilson from the group.

Their fourth album Our Way (1983) received little attention. As a result, drummer Eric Kingsley left the band.

After the release of the single Where Do I Begin?, which was released in the UK by FM Revolver, the band soon disbanded.

Despite the disbandment, a new version of I Can't Stand the Rain was released in 1988.

In 1994, Farian released the Gold 20 Super Hits CD. It featured seven remixes of Eruption and Wilson's solo tracks.

Soloist Precious Wilson

Precious Wilson was born in Jamaica and was the backing vocalist for the British soul band Eruption. Since the album Leave a Light was unsuccessful, Precious left the band to pursue a solo career.

Musician Farian wanted her to join Boney M. as a replacement for Maisie Williams (who did not sing in recording studios), but Precious refused.

Her first solo single was released in the summer of 1979 as a funky disco to soul classic. To achieve maximum promotion, Farian also included the song Hold On I'm Coming in the current album.

Failure Presence

Relations between Farian and Preshes deteriorated significantly. In view of the fact that the artist was dissatisfied with the single Let's Move Aerobic (Move Your Body). It was a non-stop pop album of soul classics.

The single was released in December 1983. He received very little support and Preches was soon out of a contract. Farian insisted on breaking the contract, because he did not see the former potential of the soloist.

Returning to the UK, Preshes signed with Jive Records in 1985. Her single I'm Be Your Friend was not very successful on the US charts.

Label Jive Records, supporting their new artist, wrote a song for Precious based on the movie "Pearl of the Nile".

The song was also included on her fourth solo album in 1986, titled Precious Wilson, with songs by several notable producers such as Richard John Astrup and Keith Diamond.

However, with new singles Nice Girls Don't Last and Love Can't Wait, the album was unsuccessful.

Still believing in Precious, Jive Records paired her with Stock Aitken Waterman for a 1987 single, a Hi-NRG disc version of Only the Strong Survive.

The song became one of the few singles that never charted in the UK.

After the release of the single I May Be Right (1990) on the British indie label, the singer found commercial success when in 1992 she performed a dance cover of Spacer Sheila B.Devotion.

Since that year, the artist has been very popular and has been invited to many concerts.
