Childhood and youth years of Georgy Sviridov

The composer's date of birth is December 16, 1915. He was born in the provincial town of Fatezh. The parents of the future idol of millions had nothing to do with creativity. The head of the family realized himself as a postal worker, and my mother showed herself as a teacher.

George's mother sang in the kliros from an early age. The woman managed to instill in her son a love for creativity and music. Already in childhood, the boy began to be interested in playing musical instruments.

With the onset of the civil war, the Sviridov family lost its breadwinner. For each member of the family, the loss of a close relative was a personal and very sad loss. The mother remained in her arms with two children. In search of a better life, a woman goes to Kirov to her distant relatives.

Once George's mother was offered a German piano or a cow as payment for the lesson. The woman did not have to think long - she opted for the first option. Mom Sviridova has long noticed that her son is actively interested in music. She directed her own abilities to the development of her son.

Another hobby of George was literature. He adored the work of Russian and foreign writers. Later, the young man became interested in playing the balalaika and even performed with the instrument at one of the festive events.

At the end of the 20s of the last century, Georgy entered the music school in the city of Kurs. Interesting and here's the moment. At the entrance exam, you had to play some kind of composition from the notes. Since Sviridov did not have such a luxury, he simply played the author's waltz.

Then he got to study with a talented teacher M. Krutyansky. The teacher noticed that in front of him was a real nugget. He advised the young man to go to Leningrad. In the metropolis, he entered the musical college. After some time, George entered the course of Isaiah Braudo.

He was one of the most successful students of the stream. After studying, he spared no effort and worked as a pianist in a cinema. Soon Braudo turned to the directorate of the educational institution with a request to transfer George to the composition course.

Young talent enters the class of M. Yudin. In the mid-30s, he still manages to enter the Leningrad Conservatory. A year later he was enrolled in the Union of Composers. 

The creative path of Georgy Sviridov

The composer's war years were spent in evacuation. In the 40s he lived on the territory of Novosibirsk. He moved to the city along with the composition of the Leningrad Philharmonic. He was enrolled in the Philharmonic almost immediately after graduating from the conservatory. Here the composer composes vocal works.

In the mid-50s of the last century, Georgy turned to Yesenin's work. He presents the poem "In Memory of Sergei Yesenin" to fans of his work. In the same period of time, he presents a cantata to the words of another Russian poet - B. Pasternak. In general, he wrote several dozen more musical works based on poems by foreign and domestic poets.

He consciously worked in the song field. In the 60s, Sviridov delighted fans of his work with a cycle for the choir and symphony orchestra "Kursk Songs". The work is based on folk and long-loved motifs.

After Sviridov's experiments with the works of the Russian people, many Soviet composers focused on Russian folk songs in their compositions. The following years turned out to be even more fruitful and eventful for maestro Georgy Sviridov.

In the 70s he composed one of the most famous and recognizable works of his repertoire. We are talking about the composition "Snowstorm", which was based on the work of Pushkin. 

On the wave of popularity, the premiere of the composition “Time, Forward!” took place. At that time, almost all Soviet schoolchildren knew this song by heart. The work sounded in the film by Mikhail Schweitzer

Georgy Sviridov: details of the composer's personal life

Sviridov's personal life did not develop immediately. The man was married three times. From different women he had two sons. It is known that the sons of the maestro died before the famous pope.

The composer did not mention the death of his eldest son Sergei during his lifetime. After the death of the composer, it became known that the eldest son voluntarily passed away. At the time of his suicide, Sergei was only 16 years old.

The youngest son of a celebrity was named Yuri. He was often sick and required expensive treatment. The youngest son of George lived in Japan for some time. He died a week before the death of Sviridov. Yuri's father never found out about the death of his youngest son.

It is noteworthy that George never mentioned the first marriages. In the interview, he was laconic. It is only known that the first wife's name was Valentina Tokareva, and she realized herself in the creative profession.

The second wife Aglaya Kornienko worked as an actress. She was much younger than George. For the sake of this woman, he left his first wife and little son. In the second marriage, a son, Yuri, was born.

Elza Gustavovna Sviridova is the third and last wife of Sviridov. She was also younger than the maestro. He idolized the woman and called her his muse.

He spent the last years of his life outside the city. The composer was engaged in music and fishing. He passed away on January 6, 1998.
