Go_A is a Ukrainian band that combines Ukrainian authentic vocals, dance motifs, African drums and a powerful guitar drive in their work.
The Go_A group has participated in dozens of music festivals. In particular, the group performed on the stage of such festivals as: Jazz Koktebel, Dreamland, Gogolfest, Vedalife, Kyiv Open Air, White Nights vol. 2".
Many discovered the work of the guys only after they found out that the team would represent Ukraine at the international Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
But music lovers who prefer quality music could probably hear the performance of the guys not only in Ukraine, but also in Belarus, Poland, Israel, Russia.
At the beginning of 2016, the Go_A team won the prestigious competition The Best Trackin Ukraine. The composition "Vesnyanka" got into the rotation of the Kiss FM radio station. Due to their radio success, the band received a nomination for the Kiss FM Discovery of the Year title. Actually, this is how the group gained its first "portion" of popularity.
The Ukrainian group, indeed, can be called the discovery of the year. The children proudly sing in their native language. In their songs, they touch on different topics. But most fans love the band's work for the lyrics.
The composition and history of the creation of the Go_A group
To understand how the soloists of the Ukrainian team live, it is enough to translate the name of the group. From English, the word "go" means to go, and the letter "A" represents the ancient Greek letter "alpha" - the root cause of the whole world.
Thus, the name of the Go_A team is a return to the roots. At the moment, the group includes: Taras Shevchenko (keyboards, sampler, percussion), Katya Pavlenko (vocals, percussion), Ivan Grigoryak (guitar), Igor Didenchuk (pipe).
The team was founded in 2011. Each of the soloists of the current group already had a little experience of being on stage. The main idea behind the creation of the project is the desire to mix a musical drive in the style of electronic sound and folk vocals.
And if today such tracks are often found, then at the time of 2011 the Go_A group became almost the pioneers of folk vocals processed by electronic sound.
It took the guys a year to create a team. Already at the end of 2012, the debut track of the Go_A group "Kolyada" was released.
The song was warmly received by music lovers and music critics. However, there has been no talk of winning a significant audience yet.
The composition "Kolyada" was presented on social networks. The song was performed during a report on one of the Ukrainian TV channels. The combination of folklore and electronic sound was unusual for many, but at the same time the song was pleasing to the ear.
New releases the team combined with instruments from different parts of the world. The guys mixed their native sopilka with African drums and Australian didgeridoos.
In 2016, the Ukrainian team presented the fans with their debut album “Go to the Sound”, which was created on the Moon Records label.
The debut album is the result of musical experiments that the band's soloists have been conducting for five years. The release of the collection sounds as if Scooter visited the Carpathians, started smoking Vatra and playing the trembita.
Interesting facts about the group
- The group is considered to be from Kyiv. The team, indeed, was born in Kyiv. However, the soloists of the Go_A group arrived in the capital from different parts of Ukraine. For example, Katya Pavlenko from Nizhyn, Taras Shevchenko is a native of Kiev, Igor Didenchuk, a sopilka, is a native of Lutsk, and guitarist Ivan Grigoryak is from Bukovina.
- The composition of the group has changed more than 9 times over the course of 10 years.
- The group enjoyed the first popularity after the presentation of the composition "Vesnyanka".
- So far, the soloists of the group are planning to perform on the stage of the international Eurovision Song Contest with a song in the national language - Ukrainian.

Go_A group today
At the beginning of 2017, the group presented the Christmas single "Shchedry Vechir" (with the participation of Katya Chilly). In the same year, the guys took part in the Folk Music program, which was broadcast on one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
On the program, the musicians got acquainted with the work of another Ukrainian group "Drevo". Later, talented guys presented a joint track, which was called "Kolo rivers kolo ford".
Will the band represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020?
According to the results of the national selection, Ukraine at the international music contest Eurovision 2020 in the Netherlands will be represented by the group Go-A with the composition Solovey.
The team, according to many, has become a real "dark horse" and at the same time with this opening of the national selection. In the first semi-final, the guys remained in the shadow of bandura player KRUTÜ and singer Jerry Heil.
Despite this, it was the Go-A group that was supposed to represent Ukraine. The reasons for the cancellation of the competition in 2020 are well known.
Group Go_A at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021
On January 22, 2021, the band presented a new video work for the song Noise. It was she who was declared by the group to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The guys had time to finalize the contest song. According to the soloist of the group Ekaterina Pavlenko, they used this opportunity.
The Ukrainian group Go_A did represent Ukraine at Eurovision. In 2021, the song contest was held in Rotterdam. The team managed to reach the final. According to the voting results, the Ukrainian team took 5th place.
