The Dutch musical group Haevn consists of five performers - singer Marin van der Meyer and composer Jorrit Kleinen, guitarist Bram Doreleyers, bassist Mart Jening and drummer David Broders. Young people created indie and electro music in their studio in Amsterdam.
Creation of the Haevn team
Haevn was formed in 2015 by soundtrack composer Jorrit Kleinen and singer-songwriter Marin van der Meyer.
The musicians met while working on the set. The collaboration led to the release of the songs Where the Heart Is and Finding Out More, which were commercial tracks for the BMW auto concern.
Subsequently, the songs hit the top positions on the Shazam charts. The duo then decided to continue working together. They were joined by Tim Bran of Dreadzone, who also produced British band London Grammar and singer Birdy.
The band included guitarist Tom Weigen and drummer David Broders. Then on September 15, 2015, Haevn performed in public for the first time as part of the Dutch travel music festival Popronde.
Already in October of the same year, the radio station NPO 3FM called the group "promising". After this statement, tickets for the band's concert in Amsterdam, which took place in May 2016, were sold out within four days. HAEVN was nominated for the Edison Awards. And also for the title of "Best new team according to the radio station 3FM".
Both songs, created to advertise the German concern, got into the top 20 best songs of the year. Finding Out More made it to the Top 2000 Greatest Songs of All Time at number 1321.
Further development of the Haevn group
Haevn has performed at major Dutch festivals including Eurosonic Noorderslag, Paaspop, Dauwpop, Retropop, Indian Summer Festival and other significant events. On April 2, 2017, the team performed at the packed Royal Theater in Amsterdam.
As part of the performance, the audience was presented with a new bassist, Mart Jeninga. Also present at the concert was the Red Limo String quartet. In late 2017, the track Fortitude was released for use in the television series Riverdale.
The band's first album: Eyes Closed
In 2018, Haevn signed with Warner Music Group. The same year began with a new guitarist - Bram Doreleyers joined the band.
He performed at two concerts as part of the Eurosonic Nooderslag festival. On February 23 of the same year, a gold record was presented for the track Finding Out More.
Three months later, the single Back in the Water was presented to the public. Its release was intended to support the first album, Eyes Closed, which was released on May 25th.
The band's tour attracted the attention of the audience, thanks to which the record took 1st place on the iTunes chart. In addition, the Khivn group gave concerts in Paris and Göttingen.
The inscription on the plate deserves special attention. In it, the musicians left a message to the listeners: "This music is designed to add warm colors to everyday life."
The band's songs are designed to improve mood. The performers also thanked the fans for their support and patience. In total, work on the album took the team 3 years.
Album with Orchestra: Symphonic Tales
In 2019, the band announced the release of their first live album Symphonic Tales on their website. The disc contained 6 songs recorded together with an orchestra consisting of 50 performers. It includes 4 tracks from the band's debut album. 2 more songs were new.
In May and June 2020, HAEVN was supposed to go on tour in the Netherlands, during which they planned to announce the release of a new album, but due to the pandemic, the band had to change their plans. The same fate befell the tour of Germany and Switzerland, which was supposed to begin in September.
Haevn group now
At the moment, the team consists of 5 performers. The only member of the band to leave is guitarist Tom Weigen. For 5 years of existence, the group has released 1 album, 1 live album and 6 singles. At the moment, the musicians were planning to release their second studio album. However, the exact release date remains unknown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Nevertheless, you can find tickets for concerts that will take place in November on sale. Thanks to this, we can safely assume that then the announcement of the disc will be carried out.
The tour of the Netherlands in support of the new album was moved forward by a year. Performances will take place in 9 largest cities of the country. Concerts - from May 6 to May 30, 2021. Most likely, it is during the performances that the audience will be presented with compositions from the new album.
At the same time, a tour of Germany and Switzerland will take place in February. It will cover 6 German and one Swiss city of Zurich. Performances will take place from 21 to 28 February 2021. Concert tickets are already on sale.
