At this time, Jason Donovan is still performing concerts in front of fans. But this is not his only activity - on account of Donovan shooting in several TV shows, participating in musicals and TV shows.

Family and early career Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan was born on June 1, 1968 in the town of Malvern (a suburb of Melbourne, Australia).

Jason's mother was Sue McIntosh and his father was Terence Donovan. Moreover, the father at one time was a fairly sought-after Australian actor.

In particular, he starred in the popular police television series on the continent, Fourth Division.

In 1986, young Jason Donovan also appeared on television in a prominent role - in the TV series Neighbors, he played a character such as Scott Robinson.

Interestingly, his partner in this series was the young Kylie Minogue, who later also became famous throughout the world. A romance arose between them, which lasted several years.

In the late 1980s, Jason Donovan began to emerge as a singer. He signed with Australian record label Mushroom Records and British label PWL Records.

His first single Nothing Can Divide Us was released in 1988. Then another single appeared, recorded in a duet with the same Kylie Minogue Especially for You. In January 1989, this composition took the 1st position of the British chart.

Another single from this period, Sealed With A Kiss, also deserves attention. Sealed With a Kiss is actually a cover of a 1960s song. And Donovan's merit lies in the fact that he was able to make this song a worldwide dance hit.

In May 1989, the singer's full-fledged debut album Ten Good Reasons was released. This disc managed not only to reach the first position of the British charts, but also to become platinum (more than 1 million 500 thousand copies were sold).

In 1989, Donovan moved from his native Australia to London, England.

Donovan's second album was called Between the Lines. It went on sale in the spring of 1990. And although this album also reached platinum status in Britain, it was still not as successful as the debut.

Donovan released five singles from this album. All of them hit the top 30 of the UK charts, but it was clear that Donovan's popularity was on the wane.

Back in 1990, the singer's romantic relationship with Kylie Minogue ended. And many "fans" of these pop stars, of course, regretted that such a bright couple broke up.

In 1992, Donovan sued The Face magazine for writing that the singer was homosexual. This was not true, and Donovan was able to sue the magazine for 200 thousand pounds. This trial had a negative impact on his career.

In 1993, Donovan's third album, All Around the World, was released. It was not well received by the audience, and from a commercial point of view, it turned out to be a "failure".

Further work and personal life of Jason Donovan

In the 1990s, Donovan reportedly used drugs. However, he eventually managed to overcome his drug addiction.

This was largely due to a meeting with theater director Angela Malloch. Donovan met her in 1998 while working on The Rocky Horror Show.

They began to meet, and then Angela gave birth to a girl from the singer, who was named Gemma. She was born on May 28, 2000. This event had a very strong impact on Donovan - he decided to stop using drugs once and for all.

Today, Angela and Donovan still live together. At the moment, they already have three children (in 2001, the boy Zack was born, and in 2011, the girl Molly).

In the 2000s, Donovan acted in several theatrical musicals. In 2004, he joined the troupe of the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, based on the book by writer Ian Fleming.

Donovan worked in this production until the most recent screening, which took place on September 4, 2005. And in 2006, he was involved in the musical "Sweeney Todd" by Stephen Sondheim.

Also in 2006, Donovan took part in the British reality show I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! ("Let me go, I'm a celebrity!").

As part of this show, invited celebrities lived for several weeks in the wild, competing for the title of "king" or "queen of the jungle." Donovan was even able to enter the final three here. And in general, the appearance in this TV show revived his career.

In 2008, Jason Donovan played one of the roles in the British ITV series The Beach of Memories. But the series did not find the love of the audience and was canceled after 12 episodes.

Donovan in recent years

In 2012, Donovan's last album, Sign of Your Love, was released on Polydor Records. Its distinguishing feature is that it consists entirely of cover versions.

In 2016, Donovan went on a UK tour with his old hits. The official name of this tour is Ten Good Reasons. Within its framework, Jason gave 44 concerts.

And, of course, at the moment, Donovan's career as a singer is not over yet. It is known that for 2020 he has planned another large-scale tour, Even More Good Reasons. It is assumed that this time the singer will cover not only Britain, but also Ireland with his performances.
