Childhood and education of Karel Gott

Karel Gott was born on July 14, 1939. It was a difficult time for a country whose life was destroyed by the outbreak of war. The boy was one child in the family, his parents doted on him and gave the best that they could. 

The house in which the family lived collapsed, unable to withstand the bombing. The young couple decided to move to live in the village with their parents. So the boy was surrounded by the care of his grandparents. The idyll lasted until 1946, then the parents found an excellent housing option in the city of Prague.

In 1954, Karel graduated from high school, but decided to continue his studies. He went to art school to get an appropriate education. The guy lost hope for a new life when he did not find his name on the list.

He was upset, but decided not to give up and master the working specialty. In a vocational school, he mastered the specialty of an electric tram line fitter. The first entry in the work book for the young man was made in 1960.

Karel Gott: How it all began

For the first time, the guy thought about singing after a gift received from his mother. She gave him a certificate in the recording studio. The young man got the opportunity to record a song in his own performance in a professional studio. And so began the career of Karel Gott.

The man spent his leisure time participating in amateur competitions and performances. However, the young performer with an original manner of singing did not make a proper impression on the jury members. 

The situation was changed by a chance meeting, which did not allow the guy to remain an amateur singer. He would have remained an electrician with a singing hobby, if in 1957 he had not met a producer who offered to work in a team. For two years, Karel Gott worked in a factory during the day and sang in Prague restaurants in the evening.

Musical career of Karel Gott

In the early 1960s, an innovative musical direction was fashionable, which developed into the twist dance. Karel Gott was at the right time and in the right place, so he gained instant popularity. Magazines with his portrait were not only on the front pages, but also on the cover, they were sold everywhere. The young man began to enjoy great popularity, he was recognized on the streets. 

The singer recorded some songs for cinematic works. One example of such compositions was the song for the animated series "The Adventures of Maya the Bee". In 1968, Karel Gott participated in the well-known Eurovision music contest. The competition was held in Austria, where the performer took 13th place. 

The early 1970s saw the peak of the singer's career. New works by Karel Gott instantly became popular. They took autographs from him, approached him to get acquainted on the streets and asked for common photographs.

Collaborations

Thanks to common work with celebrities, the performer gained additional fame. At the television festival "Song-87" he sang the song "Father's House" together with the Russian singer Sofia Rotaru. In Russian, the foreign performer sang almost without an accent, which captivated the audience. He was a polyglot, so everything turned out great. 

The audience appreciated the brilliant manner of Karel Gott's performance. The singer's songs were specially translated into Russian so that they would become popular in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The compositions "Lady Carnival", "I open the doors" were also released.

Karel Gott: Personal life

Convinced loner Karel Gott was surprised by the news that he was leaving the stage. Before the fans got used to this thought, there was already a new shock. The artist decided to leave the status of an avid bachelor and get married! Ivanna Makhachkova became his wife. 

The marriage took place in the United States of America. Then the couple returned to Prague to spend years of happy life together there. Before the wedding, the couple had a daughter, who was named Charlotte. After the wedding, God gave them another child. The girl was named Nelly-Sofia. 

The performer also had children born out of wedlock. Two more daughters from previous relationships with women lived separately from their father. But he was on good terms with them. He was on friendly terms with his mistresses.

The end of the life of the artist Karel Gott

Having lived a very happy life, in 2015 Karel Gott had health problems. Oncological disease left no chance for the man, and the diagnosis "Cancer of the lymphatic system" sounded like a sentence. A strong man fought for his life, did not refuse a course of chemical therapy, then underwent a long rehabilitation.

But the measures taken did not help. Four years after the discovery of the disease, despite all the procedures and drugs done, the singer died. Undoubtedly, the treatment helped to slightly extend the singer's life path. Karel Gott, surrounded by the love of his family, died on October 1, 2019. He lived a happy life, was pleased with his own achievements. He is remembered, loved and appreciated even now.
