Korn (Korn): Biography of the group

Korn is one of the most popular nu metal bands that have come out since the mid 90s.

They are rightly called the fathers of nu-metal, because they, along with Deftones were the first to start modernizing the already a little tired and outdated heavy metal.

The Korn Group: The Beginning

The guys decided to create their own project by merging two existing groups - Sexart and Lapd. The latter were already quite famous in their circles at the time of the meeting, so Jonathan Davis, the founder of Sexart and the current vocalist of Korn, was happy with this alignment of things.

The first self-titled album was released in 1994, and the band immediately began touring. At that time, media such as the Internet, television and the press were not available to promote music.

Therefore, the musicians popularized creativity through concerts, as well as thanks to more popular colleagues. Glory and success did not have to wait long. New metal was something completely new, so the fan base grew rapidly, and two years later the recording of the second studio album began.

The release of the album "Life Is Peachy" made a splash. The group gained real popularity, recordings began with other famous rock bands, and songs began to be used as soundtracks for films and computer games.

The third album, Follow the Leader, showed both the band's fans and their haters that Korn were not as brash and heartless as they were often made out to be.

A story about a boy with cancer made the group visit him. Only a short visit was planned, which later dragged on for a whole day and resulted in a new song by Justin.

During the album's tour, live fan meetings were organized.

It is easy to guess that the album became commercially successful and received many awards, including the MTV Video Music Awards.

The period of recording and release of the album "Issues" was marked by two important facts: the performance at the Apollo Theater and the creation of their famous microphone stand.

The concert at the theater was quite large, besides, it was the first rock band to perform there, and even with an orchestra.

But to create a stand, I had to turn to a professional artist to think over the design. There was a lot of waiting for her, but the fans were able to appreciate this creation during the tour in support of the next album - "Untouchables".

Period of creative stagnation

The fifth studio effort was not as successful as the previous four. The justification was the distribution of songs on the Internet. However, the album itself was received rather warmly, although it differed in sound from the band's earlier work.

After the release of the album, guitarist Head left the band. Several albums were released without him. Then the group also changed drummers. Ray Luzier replaced David Silveria. The band, after a short hiatus from side projects, began recording "Korn III: Remember Who You Are".

Group Korn: and take off again

2011 was a real turning point in the band's sound. The dubstep album "The Path of Totality" caused a flurry of emotions and a storm of indignation among the fans. After all, everyone was expecting a traditional hard sound, but got a modern electronic mix. But this did not stop Korn from successfully continuing his creative path in a more familiar genre.

After almost 10 years, Head decides to return to the team. He announced this in 2013. The reason for his departure was the religious search for himself. But when he returned to the group, he again began to actively record albums.

At the moment, the group's biography includes 12 studio albums, 7 of which have gained the status of platinum and multi-platinum and 1 gold thanks to constant musical experiments and the search for new sounds.

Korn: return

In early October 2013, the band returned to the hard scene with a new LP. The guys pleased the fans with the release of The Paradigm Shift. Recall that this is the band's 11th studio album.

Some time later, Korn said that they were preparing to please the "fans" with a new record. Musician "Head" described the music on the latest album as, to quote, "heavier than anyone has heard from us in a long time."

The record was produced by Nick Raskulinech. At the end of October, the artists did drop the LP The Serenity of Suffering. Fans dubbed the album, we quote: "A breath of fresh air." The tracks were recorded in the best traditions of Korn.

The "fans" who actively watched Ray Luzier's social networks were the first to know that the musicians were working closely on the 13th studio album. Brian Welch has revealed that the LP will be released in 2019. On June 25, the artists dropped The Nothing. In support of the collection, the premiere of the single You'll Never Find Me took place.

In early February 2022, the premiere of the single Lost In The Grandeur took place. As it turned out, the track will be included in the Requiem album, which is scheduled for release on February 4th. The band members promise that fans will be surprised by what they find in the track listing.
