LMFAO is an American hip hop duo formed in Los Angeles in 2006. The group is made up of the likes of Skyler Gordy (alias Sky Blu) and his uncle Stefan Kendal (alias Redfoo).
Band name history
Stefan and Skyler were born in the affluent Pacific Palisades area. Redfoo is one of eight children of Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records. Sky Blu is the grandson of Berry Gordy.
In an interview with Shave magazine, the duo revealed that they were originally called Dudes Sexy, before changing the name on the recommendation of their grandmother. LMFAO are the first letters of Laughing My Fucking Ass Off.
The duo's first steps to success
The duo LMFAO was formed in 2006 in an LA club that at the time featured DJs and producers such as Steve Aoki and Adam Goldstein.
As soon as the duo recorded a few demos, Redfoo's best friend presented them to the head of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine. Then their path to popularity began.
In 2007, the duo appeared at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The atmosphere of the South Beach quarter became a source of inspiration for their further creative style.
In an effort to attract people with their music, they began writing original dance songs in their studio apartment to play later in clubs.
The first single of the duo LMFAO
Duo LMFAO is known for their mixed style of hip hop, dance and everyday lyrics. Their songs are about parties and alcohol with a hint of humor.
Their first song "I'm in Miami" was released in the winter of 2008. The single peaked at number 51 on the Hot New 100 list. The duo's most successful songs are Sexy and I Know It, Champagne Showers, Shots and Party Rock Anthem.
Performance with Madonna
On February 5, 2012, the band appeared at the Super Bowl alongside Madonna during the Bridgestone Halftime show. They performed songs such as Party Rock Anthem and Sexy and I Know It.
During their hiatus from music, they also appeared in a Budweiser commercial with a remix of Madonna's single Give Me All Your Luvin. This song is included in the MDNA edition of the album.
World famous duet
The group became famous in 2009 thanks to a remix of the Kanye West song Love Lock down. On the day of placement, the single from their website was downloaded 26 times.
Already in the middle of the year, the album Party Rock Anthem followed, which immediately took 1st place in the dance albums and 33rd place in the official charts.
In 2009, the group was featured on MTV's The Real World: Cancun. And in 2011, the duo released the Party Rock Anthem video, which was viewed by more than 1,21 billion users.
The second single "Sorry for Party Rocking" became an international hit and reached #1 on music platforms in many countries.
The album also included another hit single, Champagne Showers. But still world fame brought them such hit singles as: Sexy and I Know It and Sorry for Party Rocking.
The duo were also invited to perform at concerts of many popular artists, namely: Pitbull, Agnes, Hyper Crush, Space Cowboy, Fergie, Clinton Sparks, Dirt Nasty, JoJo and Chelsea Corka.
In 2012, the musicians performed at Super Bowl XLVI. The group held two tours and gave concerts in many cities around the world.
The collapse of the duo LMFAO
The duo recently denied rumors that they had broken up. As Sky Blu said, "This is just a temporary break from our common work." At the moment, the performers have decided to do individual projects, which will soon be heard.
However, whether the band members will release collaborations again is unknown. Redfoo commented on this as follows: “I think we naturally just started hanging out with two different groups of people, but we are still on good terms, we are a family. He will always be my nephew and I will always be his uncle.” These words make us doubt that we will hear the new songs of the duo.

The duo LMFAO has been nominated for two Grammy awards. In 2012, he won the NRJ Music Award. In the same year, the duo received the Kids Choice Awards.
The artists are winners of several Billboard music awards, as well as winners of the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The LMFAO duo stand out for their colorful clothing and extra large, colorful eyeglass frames. When they first appeared, they wore colorful T-shirts with the band's logo or lyrics on them.
Later, the artists designed a whole collection of shirts, jackets, glasses and pendants, which are sold through their label Party Rock Life.
