Most modern rock fans know Louna. Many began to listen to the musicians because of the amazing vocals of vocalist Lusine Gevorkyan, after whom the group was named.
The beginning of the group's work
Wanting to try something new, members of the Tracktor Bowling group, Lusine Gevorkyan and Vitaly Demidenko, decided to create an independent group. The main goal of the group was to create music that makes you think. Later they took guitarists Ruben Kazaryan and Sergey Ponkratiev into their group, as well as drummer Leonid Kinzbursky. In 2008, the world saw a new group named after the translation of the name of their vocalist.
Thanks to the significant musical experience of the band members, the musicians' creativity has acquired a powerful and high-quality sound. And the songs energized even those who did not like to listen to rock. The following year, the group was nominated for an alternative music award of the year as "Discovery of the Year". Since then, the group has gained immense popularity. They now held the leading position in terms of recognition and the number of "fans" at the rock festivals they attended.
In the fall of 2010, the group's first album, Make It Louder, was released. The release was accompanied by significant attention to the group and compositions from music lovers, critics and colleagues. According to experts, such an aggressive increase in popularity was due to the well-defined moral values that were firmly upheld in the album's songs. This style was new to the genre as a whole.
The next year began with the fact that the song "Fight Club" hit the air of the radio station "Our Radio", where it stayed in the "Chart Dozen" for almost four months. Six months later, the track "Make it louder!" entered the top radio station, where he stayed for two weeks.
In July 2011, the group participated in the annual Invasion festival, where they performed with other legends of Russian rock.
"Time X"
In the winter of 2012, a new collection of the group "Time X" was released. It consisted of 14 tracks, each filled with protest themes and lyrical slants. All tracks were recorded at Louna Lab (in the band's home studio). The presentation of the album began only in May of the same year.
Six months later, the group supported the mass opposition movement "March of Millions" with speeches, expressing their support to the people. Later they took part in the Ostrov open-air rock festival, which took place in Arkhangelsk.
At the same time, the team was engaged in the creation of an English-language album, with which they wanted to perform at rock festivals around the world.
2013 started with Luna launching her English version of the site. There was published the name of the future album and the list of tracks that it will consist of.
Already in the summer, the English version of the song "Mama" hit the air of the American radio station "95 WIIL Rock FM". Then more than a hundred positive reviews from listeners got on the air.
At the end of April, the first album in English, Behind a Mask, was released. It included the best songs from the first two albums. Adapted into English by producer Travis Leek. The English-speaking rock community positively evaluated the performers and the album as a whole.
Louna conquered the USA
The summer of 2013 was the most productive for the group. While working on a new album, the band did not stop touring. During the festival season they held over 20 outdoor concerts. This figure was a record for the team, despite significant musical experience.
Autumn for the group began with the fact that the musicians went on tour in the United States of America. Together with the English-speaking bands The Pretty Reckless and Heaven's Basement, they managed to perform in 13 states in 44 days. In addition to musical activities, the group gave many interviews. During the season, the group won the hearts of a significant number of American rock connoisseurs, entered the rotation of the best radio stations in the country.
The popularity of the group in the States is evidenced by the fact that during the concerts all copies of the albums recorded by the Louna group were sold.
We are Louna
In the winter of 2014, another album "We are Louna" was released. It consists of 12 songs and a bonus cover version of the track "My Defense". The album is a strong call for action, development and the search for justice to improve their own lives. The announcement of the album was in the early autumn of the same year.
After the release of the songs from the album, they conquered the tops of radio stations for a long time, some tracks occupied leading positions on the air for four months. The presentation of the album took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg. During the concerts there was an overbooking.
An interesting fact is that during the work on the album, a fundraiser was held for the release of the album. According to many experts, this collection can be considered the most effective crowdfunding in Russia.
Louna's biggest tour ever
After holding a winter concert in Moscow, the group decided to go on a tour throughout the country with the aim of visiting all regions. The tour was justifiably called "More Louder!". He went down in history by breaking all records, starting with the number of cities, ending with attendance and funds raised. In each city, the group was warmly received by the public. Tickets were sold out within a few days.
On May 30 of the same year, the new album The Best Of was released. It collected the best compositions of the group of all time. Additionally, it includes several bonus tracks.
The Louna team is 10 years old
Recently, the group's career has developed, the audience has expanded significantly. The original intention has finally come true - music has been created that not only "rocks", but also makes you think.
Over the next few years, several more albums were hardly released, attracting to the awakening of personal and national thinking.
Another tour was held, the purpose of which was to support the new album "Brave New World". Long years of practice and experimentation were not in vain - there was a noticeable difference between the musical component and the lyrical bias in comparison with the old compositions.
The winter of 2019 began with the fact that the group went to the cities of the country in order to raise funds to support the release of the previously announced album "Poles".
Very soon, the composition of the group changed significantly. The fall of 2019 began with the fact that Ruben Kazaryan, better known under the pseudonym Ru, left the team.
Louna group now
In the spring, the already begun tour dedicated to the band's anniversary continued. Former band member Ruben Kazarian was replaced by Ivan Kilar.
At the end of April, a fundraiser for the fight against leukemia was opened. Before that, the group became a guest of the TV show "Salt in the First Person".
On October 2, the album "The Beginning of a New Circle" was released. It was on him that the collection of money took place in the summer, which will go to the release of a new album.
The Louna team in 2021
In April 2021, the premiere of the new LP of the band Louna took place. The record was called "The Other Side". Note that this is the first acoustic collection for the entire existence of the group. The compilation was topped by 13 tracks.
