Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman first met in 2011 at a bar where Majid celebrated his birthday. The guys were brought together by studying together at the University of Toronto. After classes, Majid and Jordan met at the dorm, where they wrote music together.

In just a day, the guys managed to record and release their first official track Hold Tight. The song was published on the Sound Cloud service. The friends immediately started working on new musical compositions.

They moved to the basement of Jordan's parents' house. There appeared the track After hours, which was also published by the Sound Cloud service under the pseudonym Good People.

The guys say that they did not want to advertise their creative ideas under their own names, so they came up with a capacious name, which means “good people”.

In addition to their passion for music, the guys are united by a strong love for Toronto. Majid once said that their duet is a product of the great city.

Despite the fact that the performer himself has lived here for only 8 years, Toronto has become a real home for him. The metropolis conquered Muscat with a vibrant life, creative people and openness.

After graduating from university, Majid returned to his homeland in Bahrain. He planned to apply for a job in his line of business and even considered moving to Europe. However, everything changed when the guy received a letter from the producer of "40".

The guy showed the text of the message to his father. Majid said that dad did his own research on the Internet, finding out who Shebib was and who he worked with. He convinced his son to return to Toronto to develop in the musical field.

Career Development Majid Jordan

In the summer of 2012, producer Noah "40" Shebib heard Good People on the internet. He was interested in the sound of the duet. Shebib gave the job to rapper Drake. In 2013, the duo "Majid Jordan" was invited to collaborate with Drake. The duo co-produced Hold On, We're Going Home.

The song was created in just a day. The guys worked without interruption on a wave of inspiration. The intense but exciting work brought the musicians together.

It was this single that got into the platinum album of the artist. The track received first places in the tops of America, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

The duo "Majid Jordan" under the new name, without hiding their names, released the first official track on the Sound Cloud service on July 17, 2014. Two weeks later, with the help of OVO Sound, the duo recorded an EP called A Place Like This.

Drake's support helped the guys develop quickly. Video clips were shot for three songs from the EP. Videos appeared on the tracks A Place Like This, Her and Forever.

Group compositions

As it turned out later, Jordan and Majid were very worried about the lack of a coherent album. They already had a track known in several countries with another artist, but did not have their own collection of music.

“It was our first song and it's crazy because our first song was a chart hit. We were really unknown,” Majid said.

After 2 years, in 2016, a joint track with Drake My love was released again. In the winter of that year, the duo's first North American tour took place.

The first concert was held in San Francisco, then the guys performed in Miami, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles. The duo did not forget about beloved Toronto.

The second single from the studio album was released in 2017. The track was called Phases. Already in the spring of the same year, a video clip was shot for this song.

On June 15, 2017, Majid Jordan released One I Want as the second single from their second album. The song featured a guest member from OVO's label Party Next Door.

The second album The Space Between was released in autumn 2018. This was a big event for the duo. The third single was released featuring OVO label-mate Dvsn. It was released along with the pre-order of the album, which was released on October 27, 2017.

On September 7, 2018, ZHU released their second studio album, Ringos Desert, featuring the duo "Majid Jordan" as a guest performer on the song "Coming Home". On the same day, the band released two songs titled Spirit and All Over You.

The guys said that they just wanted to make music for themselves and friends, world fame was not included in the plans. The real shock for the duo was that the first released song “blew up” the chart, becoming a real hit.

Of course, they are pleased with the recognition and love of the audience, but more importantly, they themselves love their music.

Majid said in an interview that they are constantly learning from their ideas. Each intention provides an opportunity to try something new in music.

Jordan and Majid noted that they are now reducing collaboration with other performers and musicians to a minimum. They emphasize that they want to do everything from the heart, and not to advance in show business.
