History of creation and composition

At the turn of the 60s and 70s, young musical groups were gaining popularity, which imitated the popular band The Beatles. Everyone tried to at least somehow touch the legendary group. In 1968, Andrey Makarevich, Mikhail Yashin, Larisa Kashperko and Nina Baranova, then school students, became the founders of the group. The male part of the team played the guitars, and the woman got the role of the vocalist.

Interestingly, the guys attended a school where they studied English more closely. Therefore, the soloists of the group decided to rely on English, starting to perform tracks by foreign singers. The musical group performed in the capital's schools and clubs under the name The Kids.

Once, a VIA from Leningrad came to the school where the soloists of the musical group studied. The musical group had at its disposal high-class equipment. Then, for the first time, Andrei Makarevich managed to play the guitar and perform several pieces of music.

In 1969, the original composition of the Time Machine was organized. The soloists of the musical group were: Andrey Makarevich, Igor Mazaev, Pavel Rubin, Alexander Ivanov and Sergey Kavagoe. The guys decided that there was no place for female vocals in the group. The permanent leader of the group Andrey Makarevich became the main vocalist of the Time Machine.

According to the members of the musical group, they would not have achieved such popularity if not for Sergei Kavagoe. The young man's parents lived in Japan. At home, Sergei had professional electric guitars, which practically no one in the Soviet Union had. The sound of the musical compositions of the Time Machine favorably differed from other Soviet rock bands.

Later, the first conflicts began to arise in the men's team, which were associated with the group's repertoire. Sergei and Yuri wanted to play in the style of the Beatles. But Makarevich insisted on choosing musical compositions by lesser-known musicians.

Makarevich believed that they would not succeed in achieving the popularity of the Liverpool Four, and Makarevich did not want to be a white spot against the background of the Beatles.

The tension inside the Time Machine was heating up. Borzov, Kavagoe and Mazaev left the Time Machine and began work under the name "Durapon steam engines", but did not achieve success, and therefore returned to the Time Machine.

Changes in the composition of the group

Immediately after the release of their debut album, guitarists Rubin and Ivanov left the band. By that time, the guys had already received secondary education, and now their main task was to receive higher education. Yuri and Andrey entered the architectural institute in the capital of Russia. In Moscow, the guys met Alexei Romanov and Alexander Kutikov.

The latter soon replaced Mazaev, who was drafted into the armed forces, as part of the Time Machine, and Borzov went to the group of Alexei Romanov. The screenwriter and writer Maxim Kapitanovsky became the drummer. However, a year later, Maxim was drafted into the army.

During this period, Kavangoe begins to diligently prepare for the entrance exams to Moscow State University. Because of this, Kavangoe constantly misses rehearsals. Makarevich and Kutikov at this time are working in the musical group "The Best Years".

The guys reunited only in 1973, and the name Time Machine immediately arose. Another year will pass and Romanov will become the soloist of the group, together with Andrei Makarevich.

In 1973, Kutikov leaves the Time Machine. This musician is replaced by the equally talented Yevgeny Margulis, who played the bass guitar.

A few years after the conflict, the composition of the musical group Time Machine changed again: Makarevich remained the vocalist, and Alexander Kutikov, Valery Efremov and Pyotr Podgorodetsky accompanied him. In the late 90s, Podgorodetsky left the rock band due to drug and alcohol use. Andrey Derzhavin came to replace Peter.

Music of the Time Machine group

In 1969, the debut album of the musical group, called TimeMachines, was released. The songs that were included in the debut album were very reminiscent of the tracks of the "Liverpool Four". Makarevich himself was not happy with the constant comparisons of their group with the Beatles, so he tried to find the individual style of the Time Machine.

In 1973, the Time Machine presented another disc - "Melody". Here the guys have already "found themselves." In the tracks that were included in the second album, the individual style of the tracks was already heard. The second album was a success.

After the release of the second disc, the Time Machine began to accompany the crisis. They were not invited to concerts. The guys had to sing in local cafes and restaurants in order to at least somehow earn money for food and pay for rented housing.

In 1974, the guys recorded the musical composition "Who is to blame." This song for the Time Machine group was written by Alexei Romanov himself. Unfortunately, the track was taken by music critics as dissident. Although the members of the group themselves noted that in the words of the song there was no hint of “offending” the authorities, or succumbing to the criticism of the president.

In 1976, the group performed at the Tallinn Songs of Youth music festival, and soon their songs were sung in all corners of the Soviet Union. Two years later, at a well-known music festival, the Time Machine group is announced as politically unreliable. Since then, the musical group has been giving performances, but already illegally.

This did not suit Makarevich, who dreamed that the Time Machine would gain all-Union popularity. Although, according to Andrey, illegal performances began to bring very good earnings.

The resumption of the concert activity of the Time Machine group

In early 1980, the Time Machine performed on the Russian stage for the first time in a long time. This was facilitated by the connections of Andrei Makarevich. At concerts held in crowded halls, the hits "Turn", "Candle" and others sounded, which do not lose popularity today.

But soon the musical group was again in for a surprise from the authorities. The work of the Time Machine was severely criticized by officials. They wanted the Time Machine to completely cease to exist and give concerts. At that time, more than 200 thousand fans decided to support the musical group. They came to the editorial office of Komsomolskaya Pravda to support their idols.

But, despite the pressure from the authorities, the Time Machine in 1986 presents one of the most powerful albums, Good Hour. At the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the pressure on the group had already significantly eased, so they were free to organize their concerts.

In 1991, the musical group Time Machine organized a concert in support of Boris Yeltsin. Now, the group exhaled. Concerts of the legendary musical group began to attend, including well-known Russian politicians.

In 2000, the Time Machine entered the top ten most popular Russian rock bands according to the Komsomolskaya Pravda magazine. As Andrey Makarevich wanted this, the musical group Time Machine by the beginning of the 2000s already had a special status on the Russian stage.
