Childhood and youth of Mikhail Pletnev

He was born in mid-April 1957. His childhood was spent in the Russian provincial town of Arkhangelsk. Mikhail was lucky to be brought up in a primordially intelligent and creative family.

The head of the family in his time studied at the faculty of folk instruments in a popular educational institution, referred to as "Gnesinka". Pletnev's father was remembered by fans as a talented musician and teacher. And he had the honor of standing at the conductor's stand.

Mikhail's mother had a similar interest with his father. The woman devoted the lion's share of her life to playing the piano. Later, Pletnev's mother will attend almost all the concerts of her beloved son.

Music often sounded in the Pletnevs' house. From early childhood, he was interested in the sound of musical instruments. Of course, at first this interest was purely childish, but this left its mark on the perception of the world.

One of Mikhail's most vivid memories was trying to conduct an "animal" orchestra. He sat the animals on the sofa and, with the help of an impromptu conductor's baton, "supervised" the process.

Soon, caring parents sent their offspring to a music school. He entered the educational institution of the Kazan Conservatory. But schooling didn't last long. The young man was transferred to the central music school, which functioned on the basis of the capital's conservatory. A few years later, he won the first significant victory. It happened at an international competition in the capital of Paris.

The path of the young maestro was determined. He entered the Moscow Conservatory, honing his knowledge under the guidance of experienced teachers. Mikhail did not forget to attend prestigious festivals and competitions. Gradually, more and more people became aware of the talented musician.
