First steps into the world of music The Strokes

Three guys Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi and Fabrizio Moretti studied at the same school, and also went to classes together. Thanks to common interests, the future musicians rallied and decided to organize their own group in 1997. 

A little later, their trio was supplemented by another friend, Nikolai Freythur, who took the role of bassist. A year later, the guys were invited to play with them in the group of Albert Hammond Jr. He just recently moved to America and gladly accepted this offer.

Over the next two years, the group actively rehearsed, the musicians were purposeful and focused on the result. Their hard training did not stop even at night. This work was not in vain, The Strokes began to be noticed and invited to perform at local rock clubs.

First concert and recognition

The very first decisive concert the group gave in 1999 in a small local club. Immediately after that, she got the attention of producers and the public.

It is noteworthy that even the then-famous producer Ryan Gentles left his job at the club to help the guys advance in the music industry. He undoubtedly saw tremendous potential in them and could not pass by novice musicians. A little later, the guys from the group met another producer, Gordon Rafael, who became interested in the group and their work.

The Strokes recorded with him a demo of their album "The Modern Age", which consisted of fourteen songs. This album brought the group great success. Participants began to be recognized on the street and invited to photo shoots. For their work there was a war between labels. Everyone wanted to get such hard-working, hard-working musicians and work with them.

New album "Is This It"

In 2001, The Strokes were going to release their new album "Is This It", but the label they worked with decided to postpone this event. The fact is that on the cover there was an image of a man's hand on the naked back of a girl. In addition, RCA was feared for the content of the lyrics, which hid inflammatory lines after the political conflict in the country.

The label still changed the album cover and excluded some songs from the album list. Despite the fact that the release was slightly delayed, the album still saw the light and received recognition.

After the very successful release of this album, The Strokes went on tour in all major countries. During their tour, they filmed a short documentary about their journey, which fans especially enjoyed.

The subsequent period since 2002 in the life of the group is particularly active. The group participates in various shows, festivals, photo shoots and gives concerts as invited guests. During this period, the members do not record albums.

The Strokes productive period

In 2003, the guys gave several concerts in Japan, where they became winners in several categories. A year later, The Strokes decided to release a live album "Live in London", but this event did not take place due to poor sound quality.

In 2005, some of the group's hits are in the top 10 singles and attract even more rock fans. Their songs begin to sound on the radio. The Strokes are planning to release a new album, however, due to one song accidentally leaking online, the release was pushed back. After some time, the album "First Impressions of Earth" was still released in Germany. It received very mixed reviews from fans.

In the same year, The Strokes again give grandiose concerts in the cities of America. And in 2006 the group goes on tour in Europe, where they give as many as 18 concerts.

In 2009, the guys again plunge into work on their new album "Angles". This album differed from the rest in that the lyrics were written by all the guys from the team, which cannot be said about the previous compositions. 

Also this year, the group created their website. Thanks to this event, fans were able to read interesting facts about the life of their favorite rock band, enjoy their music and leave warm wishes. 2013 was also filled with productive work and the release of the new album "Comedown Machine".

In 2016, the guys took part in large-scale concerts, as well as some shows in many countries. Three years later, The Strokes gave a concert at a charity show. A few months later, they announced the release of a new studio album.

In 2020, the group performed at one of the political rallies. Also this year, the guys released their sixth studio album "The New Abnormal" and wrote the soundtrack for the series.
