The Beginning of Theory of a Deadman

The title was based on a line from Tyler's The Last Song. It is about a young man who decides to commit suicide. Later, in 2017, the band members decided to shorten the name to the first word.

They explained their choice like this - people who are just starting to get acquainted with their work are often frightened by the gloomy name, and it is pronounced long and long. According to Tyler, since the inception of the group, they called it simply Theory among themselves.

From the very beginning, the band captured the hearts of Canadians, despite the often changing lineup of the group. This was especially true for the drummers, for 19 years since the creation of the group there have already been three drummers.

Joey Dandeno joined in 2007 and is still a member of the band to this day. According to him, he is not going to leave his musical career in Theory of a Deadman. It is noteworthy that Joey is not only a virtuoso drummer, but also the youngest member of the group.

What is the team known for?

The band's heyday was in 2005 when Fahrenheit came out. Songs from it interested gamers around the world. Many have already begun to recognize the little-known Vancouver band, which made its way to the thorny path of fame since 2001. In the same year, the group released the album Gasoline, which greatly pleased the audience.

The song "Invisible Man" was featured in the old Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire. Also in one of the episodes of "Secrets of Smallville" and the series "Followers".

In the summer of 2009, Not Meant To Be became famous thanks to the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The 2011 sequel Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon also featured the song Head Above Water by Theory of a Deadman.

In 2010, Theory of a Deadman was honored to be one of the bands that performed at the Winter Olympics medal ceremony in their hometown of Vancouver.

The group has shot more than 19 videos and released 7 albums throughout its existence.

Theory of a Deadman Band Awards

The band's third album, Scars & Souvenirs, was so well received by Americans that it was certified gold in the United States.

In 2003, the group was the winner of the "Best New Group of the Year" at the Juno Awards, gaining notoriety for their first album. In 2006, the team was nominated in the categories "Group of the Year" and "Rock Album of the Year", but never received a victory.

The essence of creativity and the interests of group members

Musicians are sure that through creativity it is possible to influence people - to encourage them to reason and certain thoughts, to cheer up, heal, even make a person reconsider life priorities. Therefore, their songs often deal with acute social problems, the group focuses on internal experiences and relationships between people.

The group dedicates their songs to the topics of domestic violence and racism, drug addiction, etc. However, the musicians urge people to be kinder to each other. Find the strength to fight addictions and not tolerate injustice.

It is noteworthy that the musicians do not take all the money earned from the released albums. Most of the money is given to charitable foundations.

The relationship between the musicians is quite warm and friendly, even with those who voluntarily left the group at one time. The guys often get together, spending time playing hockey, this sport is a national treasure of Canada. Therefore, every musician (both current and former) plays it at an amateur level.
