Childhood and youth Till Lindemann

Till Lindemann was born on January 4, 1963 in the city of Leipzig (the territory of the former German Democratic Republic). The boy spent his childhood in the village of Wendisch-Rambow, which is located in Schwerin (East Germany).

The boy was brought up in an incredibly creative family. The mother of the future celebrity painted pictures and wrote books, and the head of the family was a children's poet. One of the schools in the provincial town of Rostock is even named after his father. It is known that Lindemann has a younger sister. The family boasted a rich library. From an early age, Till got acquainted with the works of Mikhail Sholokhov, Leo Tolstoy. And also with the literary works of Chingiz Aitmatov.

Till's mother was a fan of the work of Vladimir Vysotsky. The works of the Soviet bard were often heard in the Lindemann house. The future musician got acquainted with Russian rock music only after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Fans are haunted by the origin of Till. Some say that the musician is a native German, while others say that the artist has Jewish roots. Lindemann does not comment on this matter.

By the way, Till had a difficult relationship with his father. He repeatedly said that there were periods in the family when they did not talk to each other. The father described the conflict with Till in detail in the book "Mike Oldfield in a rocking chair", replacing the son's real name with "Tim".

Till admits that his father was a man with a very difficult character. It is known that he suffered from alcoholism and in 1975 divorced his wife. And in 1993 he died due to alcohol poisoning. The celebrity said that since the death of his father, he did not visit his grave. Moreover, he did not attend the funeral of the pope. Till's mother, after the death of her husband, remarried a US citizen.

As a teenager, Till attended a sports school in the city of Rostock. From 1977 to 1980 the future artist studied at a boarding school. He does not like to remember this period of his life.

The young man was even a member of the GDR team, which competed at the European Championships. Later, Till was supposed to go to the Olympics, but his plans did not come true. He pulled his abdominal muscles and was forced to give up professional sports forever.

There is another version of why Till did not compete and left the sport. He was expelled from sports school in 1979 because Till had run away from a hotel in Italy. The young man wanted to spend a romantic evening with his girlfriend, walking around a country unfamiliar to him. The musician said that after the “escape”, he was summoned for interrogation, which lasted several hours. Till felt uncomfortable and sincerely did not understand what his fault was. Then the young man realized that he was living in an unfree and spy country.

After becoming famous, he spoke about the fact that he did not like to go to sports school because of the intensity. “As you know, in childhood you don’t have to choose. Therefore, I didn’t argue with my mother, ”added the celebrity.

At the age of 16, Lindemann refused to serve in the army and almost ended up in prison. But still, life spared the guy, indicating in which direction he needs to develop further.

In the same period of time, the musician met Richard Kruspe, the future guitarist of the band Rammstein. The guys began to communicate closely, and Richard invited Till to create his own project. According to Lindemann, he was wary of his friend's proposal, because he did not consider himself a talented musician.

His self-doubt can be easily explained. Since childhood, he heard from his mother that his singing is more like noise. When the guy became a musician of a rock band, he trained for several years in Berlin with a star of the German opera house. During rehearsals, his teacher forced Till to sing with a chair raised above his head. This allowed the development of the diaphragm. Over time, the singer managed to achieve the desired sound of the voice.

At the same time, the team was replenished with new members. They were Oliver Rieder and Christopher Schneider. Thus, in 1994, a team appeared in Berlin, which today is known to the whole world. We are talking about the group Rammstein. In 1995, Paul Landers and keyboardist Christian Lawrence joined the band.

The team collaborated with Jakob Hellner. Soon they presented the debut album Herzeleid, which gained worldwide popularity in a short period of time. Interestingly, the group performed only in German. Till himself insisted on this. The group's repertoire includes several tracks in English. But when listening, it is absolutely clear that Lindemann finds it difficult to play music in a foreign language.

Success in the work of the artist

The release of the second LP Sehnsucht preceded the release of the single "Angel" and a video clip for the track. Subsequent works were also warmly received by fans. The label got richer, and the musicians' pockets got noticeably heavier.

The fact that all the tracks included in the repertoire of the Rammstein group belong to Till deserves considerable attention. He even published the books Messer (2002) and Instillen Nächten (2013).

Till has a very controversial character. A romantic and a daring, brutal man somehow coexist in a man. For example, he has the love song Amour and the sad lyrics about the polluted Danube river Donaukinder.

The band's concerts are worthy of considerable attention. At performances, Till behaved as openly as possible, he delighted the audience with a fiery pyrotechnic show. In 2016, at the concert of the band, the musician entered the stage in a martyr's belt, which scared the audience. And the artist often appeared on stage in a pink fur coat.
