The group remains stable in its original composition, which includes three musicians:

  • Alex Trimble is the band's frontman. He performs all vocal parts, plays keyboards and percussion instruments, guitar, is responsible for percussion and beats;
  • Sam Halliday - lead guitarist, also sings backing vocals
  • Kevin Baird (bassist) also takes part in the vocals.

At various times, specially invited tour musicians collaborated with the group: Benjamin Thompson (drummer) and Jacob Berry (multi-musician: guitarist, keyboardist and drummer).

By the way, the group does not have a special drummer. Trimble adds beats via laptop, and live performances require the help of fellow musicians.

Alex Trimble and Sam Halliday met in high school when they were 16 years old. Later, Baird joined the company of guys. He tried to get acquainted with the girls that Trimble and Halliday knew, and the guys helped him.

The guys formed the group in 2007. For a long time they could not decide on the name, and the first three sketches were signed with the name of the band Life Without Rory. Under this name, they managed to release only three demo versions and closed the project. The new name was based on a common joke about the local Tudor cinema - Tudor Cinema.

Once, as a teenager, Halliday changed the name to Two Door Cinema. And it seemed very funny. In principle, the group was engaged in music "for fun". Therefore, the musicians did not try very hard. They believed that they had already found their listeners on social networks and on MySpace.

Once upon a time, Trimble wore luxurious red Irish hair. Today he shaved his head, shocking fans.

Having created a group, the musicians "untwisted" themselves, performed at university venues and posted music on MySpace. And one day they were noticed. The musical material quickly caused a great stir. Despite the fact that all three were already students, they had to leave the universities in order to pursue music and start earning something from which to create studio recordings.

The beginning of the popularity of the group Two Door Cinema Club

2009: Four Words to Stand On

The popularity of the band started talking in 2009, when the mini-album Four Words to Stand On was released earlier this year. It was unusual and wonderful that serious music blogs began to write about the musicians. The album was written in two studios - in London's Eastcote Studios (under the direction of Eliot James) and in Paris Motorbass, which belonged to Philip Zhday.

The EP was nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Ireland's Best Album 2010. A year later, the band was included in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll. A month later, they announced the release of their second full-length studio album.

2010: Tourist History

The release of a full-length album was talked about a few months after the release of the mini-album and the singles preceding it. The musicians in an interview announced the list of songs that will be included in it. Not surprisingly, well-publicized material was taken to soundtracks and commercials even before the release of the record.

Tourist History was released in January 2010 in Europe, and appeared across the ocean in the spring of the same year. The success was resounding. The hit What You Know, which will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary, has been and remains the main song of the musicians.

The song "Something Good Can Work" was featured in a Vodafone ad. The hit Undercover Martyn made a recognizable advertisement for Meteor and the game Gran Turismo 5.

Also, computer games FIFA 11 and NBA 2K11 were accompanied by part of the track I Can Talk. So about the songs from this album, every second person says that he “heard them somewhere”.

2011: Performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

The band first saw the world through a performance on the hit Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The musicians appeared in the studio with two hits I Can Talk and What You Know.

2012: Beacon

The second studio album was released in September 2012. It started at number 1 on the Irish Albums Chart. The release became "gold" (according to BPI). In England, more than 100 thousand copies were sold during the year, in the USA - about 110 thousand copies of the album.

2016 Gameshow

The album was recorded in Los Angeles after the group's two-year silence on the YouTube channel. The band devoted a year to tour in support of the release in North America.

2019 False Alarm

On June 21, the band released a new disc, the fourth studio album in their discography. Most of the "fans" admitted that the guitars in the new album lost their carefree fun and gained a frightening seriousness.
