Vilen Tokarev was born back in 1934 in a family of hereditary Kuban Cossacks. His historical homeland was a small settlement in the North Caucasus.

Arriving in America, Tokarev took on any job. There was a time when the future star worked in a taxi, at a construction site and as a loader in a grocery store. Willy put in considerable effort to earn money. He spent the money he earned on recording musical compositions.

His labors were not in vain. After 5 years, the first album "And life, it is always beautiful" was released. According to experts, Willy spent about $25 to record his debut album. The American public received the debut album very warmly.

Two years later, Willy recorded another disc, In a Noisy Booth. Thanks to the second album, Willy gained even greater recognition among the Russian-speaking population of New York. Tokarev began to be invited to reputable Russian restaurants - Odessa, Sadko, Primorsky.

In 1980, the performer created the One Man Band label in the United States of America. Under this label, Tokarev has released more than 10 albums. At that time, the name of Tokarev competed with Uspenskaya and Shufutinsky.

In the late 1980s, Alla Pugacheva helped Tokarev organize concerts in the Soviet Union. Willy traveled to more than 70 major cities in the USSR. Willy Tokarev continued to make plans. On August 4, 2019, his son Anton announced to reporters that his father was gone. For fans of Tokarev's work, this news came as a shock.
