Demi Lovato was born on August 20, 1992 in Texas. She is the daughter of Patrick Lovato and Dianna Lovato. She has an older sister named Dallas Lovato. In 1994, her father decided to move to New Mexico after his divorce from Dianna. A year later, her mother married Eddie De La Garza. And Demi's new family expanded when her younger sister, Madison De La Garza, was born.

The full name of the artist is Demetria Devon Lovato. Her father (Patrick Martin Lovato) was an engineer and musician. And her mother (Dianna De La Garza) was a former Dallas Cowboys fan.

She also has a maternal half-sister, Madison De La Garza, who is an actress. Amber is the older paternal half-sister. Lovato spent her childhood in Dallas, Texas.

Since childhood, she was fond of music. At the age of 7 she started playing the piano. Demi started playing the guitar at the age of 10. She also started dancing and acting. 

She continued her education through home schooling. She graduated from high school in 2009. Moreover, there are still no details regarding her education.

Demi began her career as a child actress on Barney and Friends in 2002. She guest-starred as Angela in the television series and completed nine episodes. After that, she starred as Danielle Curtin in Prison Break (2006).

Her first big break came when she was offered the lead role of Charlotte Adams in The Bell Rings (2007-2008).

In 2009, she starred in the TV movie Camp Rock and released her debut single, This Is Me. It peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. She then signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut album Don't Forget (2008). It debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200.

In 2009, Lovato released her second album, Here We Go Again. It became her first album to chart on the Billboard 200. She appeared on Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience in 2009.

After a short break from music, Demi returned with her album Unbroken in 2011. The songs from this compilation received mixed reviews from critics. But the single Skyscraper from this collection topped the Billboard countdown chart.

In 2012, Demi became one of the judges on The X Factor. She reviewed the skills of many aspiring singers as well as other contemporaries in the music industry such as Simon Cowell.

In September 2014, the artist entered the skincare business and announced a new range of Devonne by Demi skincare products.

She has received several awards, including one MTV Video Music Awards, one ALMA Awards, and five People's Choice Awards. Demi has been nominated for a Grammy Award, a Billboard Music Award and a Brit Award.

She has also received a Billboard Woman in Music award and 14 Teen Choice awards. Demi also got into the Guinness Book of Records. She ranked number 40 on the Maksim Hot 100 list in 2014.

On July 25, 2018, she was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital. CNN reported that Demi Lovato is in the hospital with a suspected drug overdose. The Los Angeles Fire Department told CNN it received an emergency call at 11:22 a.m. and asked for help transporting a 25-year-old woman to a local hospital.

Demi Lovato's personal life

Even when she was at the peak of her career, in 2010 Lovato fell victim to depression and an eating disorder. She sought medical help to solve this problem by entering a rehabilitation center.

In 2011, she returned from rehab to stay sober. The actress admitted to using drugs and alcohol. She even smuggled cocaine on a plane. And she told me that she had a nervous breakdown. And during treatment, she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

Demi has been associated with Free the Children, which operates primarily in African countries such as Ghana, Kenya and Sierra Leone.

Demi is active on social media. She uses Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She has over 36 million followers on Facebook, over 57,1 million followers on Twitter, and over 67,9 million followers on Instagram.

Lovato is a Christian. In early November 2013, in an interview with Latina magazine, she said that she considers spirituality an important part of maintaining balance in life. She said, “I am closer to God now than I have ever been. I have my own relationship with God, and that's all I can share with you."

Lovato is a vocal supporter of gay rights. When the Defense of Marriage Act was repealed in June 2013, she tweeted: 

“I believe in gay marriage, I believe in equality. I think there is a lot of hypocrisy in religion. I understand and accept that you can have your relationship with God, but I still have a lot of faith in something more!”.

On December 23, 2011, Lovato posted a tweet on Twitter criticizing her former network for airing episodes of "Shake It Randomly", in which the characters joked about eating disorders. Disney Channel officials quickly took action, apologizing to Lovato and removing the episodes from the network's broadcast. As well as all videos on demand from sources after additional criticism in the network account.

Lovato spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia about raising mental health awareness. She also spoke at a rally against gun violence in Washington DC in March 2018.
