J. Bernardt is the solo project of Jinte Deprez, better known as a member and one of the founders of the famous Belgian indie pop and rock band Balthazar.
early years
Yinte Marc Luc Bernard Despres was born on June 1, 1987 in Belgium. He began studying music as a teenager and knew that in the future he would deal with her. In 2004, Jinte, with Maarten Devoldere and Patricia Vannest, created the pop-rock band Balthazar, which became the most popular Belgian band. In the band, Depres acted as a guitarist and one of the vocalists.

In 2016, the Balthazar group decided to take a break from creativity and went on an impromptu vacation. However, the members of the group took up solo careers. Despres was no exception and now conquers the European scene with beautiful melodies and boring rhythms together with the J. Bernardt project.
According to the musician, he started working on a solo project at the end of one of the Balthazar tours. The founder has repeatedly said that the purpose of creating a solo project was to realize himself as a vocalist, try out in another musical genre and the possibility of cooperation with other performers. For a more than famous musician, this was a feasible undertaking.
Composition of the J. Bernardt group
J. Bernardt is the solo project of Jinte Depre. However, he also attracts other musicians, despite the fact that he often writes music on his own. For example, a drummer and a keyboardist perform with him on stage.
At first, Despres was looking for a drummer through acquaintances. He was required to be able to masterfully cope with electronic percussion instruments. It was Claes de Somer, and then Adrian Van De Velde (keyboards) joined. Klaas and Adrian had also previously played in the same band and worked together quickly and without problems.
Musical style of the group J. Bernardt
When creating a solo project, Depre wanted something new, different in sound from the usual Balthazar. He was interested in trying electronic music, something danceable and a bit of R'n'B.
The musicians succeeded, and after a successful first tour, the J. Bernardt group continued to delve into the search for a new one. The attractive sound of the music, combined with a sensual, deep and soulful voice, makes the songs unforgettable and worthy of the attention of the public.
Musical activities of the J. Bernardt group
After the announcement of a creative break in the activities of the Balthazar group, Jinte Depre began to conquer European scenes already with his solo project. During the first year of its existence, the J. Bernardt group released singles, a record, shot videos and gave a number of concerts in European countries.
According to Depre, he loves to write songs on the road. Moreover, now all he needs for creativity is small keys and a laptop. But he also has his own Bunker recording studio, where his colleagues sometimes came.
Performances by J. Bernardt have always been bright. Before the performance, Yinte does a real warm-up - runs in place, stretches his shoulders and arms, squats. That's why he's so energetic on stage - he runs a lot and dances to the beat of the music.
The highlight of the guys is their stage clothes - these are elegant, restrained images. The musicians say that this is how they show respect for the fans.
Debut album release
The first album Running Days was released in June 2017. It includes ten songs recorded at Depres Bunker's own studio. According to the musician, the inspiration was the German electronic band Kraftwerk and the modern pop scene.
The release of the album was postponed once - everything was almost ready. However, Yinte broke up with his girlfriend, so everything stopped, and then the musician decided not to rush. At the same time, the main theme of the album is love, which, according to the musician, is the most important thing in the life of every person.
Back in the same 2017, the musicians released a mini-album with remixes, which had the same name and consisted of 5 musical compositions.
Balthazar, J. Bernardt and future plans
Many are interested in the question of the further work of the J. Bernardt group, since work on the new Balthazar album was resumed. And although Depre says that he will deal with him first, fortunately, work on a solo project does not stop. The musician said that he was simultaneously writing songs for his project and was not going to stop.
Moreover, there are already several ready-made compositions for the next album, in which the "fans" will have the opportunity to enjoy interesting musical collaborations with other musicians. The style of the new album is yet to be announced. But the "fans" are already intrigued, since Yinte mentioned rap songs, even folk ones.

- The team is known in not very narrow circles, but not all fans know interesting facts about the J. Bernardt group, in particular Jint Depre.
- • The name of the project has a very unusual origin. Jinte himself says that it comes from his fourth name (Bernard). His friends use this name when the musician is "drunk", because he becomes more cheerful, kinder and more sociable.
- • Jinte doesn't see himself as just a guitar player (many people think so because Balthazar mostly plays guitar in the band). As part of a solo project, the musician decided to try something new for himself, he sings and actively dances at performances.
- • Musicians are still surprised when a significant number of people come to their concerts.
- • When creating a solo project, Despres did not have huge ambitions. It may sound strange, but the musician explains this by the fact that his only desire was to create beautiful music that would please and delight.
- • When writing music, Deprez often uses unusual instruments - the Egyptian violin, tam-tam, percussion. They are given to the musician by the parents.
